Hi I'm doing online Hurst review & I LOVE IT (online works best for me because I can work at my own pace) I test at the end of the month & will let you know. I too thought about Kaplan but Kaplan teaches strategy and I'm weak in content so I choose Hurst & also because I couldn't afford to do both

Also using LaChartiy Delegation book & NCLEX 4000 & reviewing my old dosage calculations book

Both are good. Kaplan have high level questions....their vidoe content is not as live as Marlene Hurst. i used both and benefited just as much....key word is understanding content and the rest falls into place

Can you explain how you studied?

How long since you have graduated?

I would say 12hrs a day is too long.

Set a goal- 6-8wks and keep to it

Hurst- Loved it for content. It is what I used to review about 85% of my content. The videos were lively and too the point and the workbook reinforced it. I didn't do any of their questions.

Kaplan- for higher level questions and some strategies I loved it. I tried to watch some of their videos which were good with content but not as engageing.

However, I did all 1200 questions in the Q bank- started with 50Q a day then 2 wks from exam 100Q a day. READ all of the rationals. this is why I think doing over 100 questions is too much because you may not be able to hold all the info.

Kaplan's screen looks just like the NCLEX screen and the SATAs are pretty similar

I used both for about 90% of my studies and my NCLEX book (Prentice and Hall ) about 15% and I passed first try.

The thing is to read for understanding. You can't do questions if you don't know your content and then know delegations, infection control etc. The questions from kaplan gets you familiar with the NCLEX questions and Hurst is great for content.

If you can afford it, I'd do both and INPERSON

Hi, I recommend using Saunders and answer at least 30-50, if not more, questions a day on a different topic each time. And set aside time for yourself that is strickly for studying/reviewing. Think about the end result and do not stress or over think. Have you tried Saunders yet? You can do it!!!!!!! :)

You should not lose hope. My coaches said, never argue with the question. If you are wrong, accept it. It's easy to remember a wrong item rather than if it's right. Also, answer at least 300-500 questions a day. =)

Good luck! Keep on praying and believe in yourself!
