I took my 3rd attempt of nclex-rn and used Kaplan online and passed with 75 questions. Good luck to you.

Kaplan works, I am international nurse, passed with 75q in my first attempt. I took the complete live course. Many questions on the test were very similar to kaplan questions. Just got the results today!
I used Saunders and Kaplan.
Good luck!

I just found out I passed NCLEX in 75 questions. I wanted to let you know that I feel Kaplan was the most helpful review. I HIGHLY recommend this review!!! It was worth the $$ because I used their strategies and plain n simple, exposed me to the content I needed to pass NCLEX.

I was not a straight A student in Nursing School. My school participated in ATI predictors and I received an 80% chance of passing NCLEX the first time. I began my NCLEX review without too much confidence, but stuck w/ the Kaplan online study plan. Here were my scores w/ Kaplan. BTW, I didnt do their work in the order they recommended, so here is what I did.

1) Took the Diagnostic exam (scored 52).
2) Completed their in-class lessons.
3) Chose one of their premade study schedules (I opted for the 8wk schedule) found in their RN course book. I formulated my schedule so that I would do question trainer each week (i.e. Saturday), and did 50 qbanks/day (i.e. Mon-Fri). Gave myself a break on Sunday or used it as makeup days in case I slacked during the week. Initially I scored in the high 40's to low 50's on qbanks... and as I progressed in my schedule, I was consistently in high 50's to low 60's up until NCLEX time. Don't get discouraged if your scores dont go up... more important that you go through the rationales carefully. Come NCLEX time, you will be glad because I had quite a few NCLEX q's that I recall studying from Kaplan. My scores on QT's were: 48, 49, 59, 62, 61, 63, 59. As long as I scored above 55, I was happy.. but more importantly, I really went thru the rationales.
4) Once I was done with all my QT's and QBanks, I finall scheduled my Readiness Test... I did this w/ one week before NCLEX. This was the best thing I did because it a) allowed me to see if I was truly "ready" w/ enough time to reschedule or not b) gave me enough time to review the rationales c) I was able to take it easy this last week. I scored 64%, which was great for me! I then used the last three days before my exam to just memorize info that I compiled that I felt I needed to just commit to memory (i.e. lab values and meds).

In addition to Kaplan, I also found Saunders helpful (dont feel the need to go over this book page by page... I just used it as refernce), and La Charity's Prioritzation and Delegation (this book is great, esp for knowing what an LPN/LVN, RN, NA responsibilities are).

Goodluck! I think the key to success of Kaplan is that their q's are tough (tougher than NCLEX), and w/ the amount of questions you will go thru (so dont cheat yourself by just skimping over rationales) over 1,800+, you will be prepared!!! I didnt think I was one of those students that could pass at 75, but did it!

Lastly, I PRAYED!!! Before Kaplan, Nursing school etc, I could not have done it w/o HIM. When I was out of focus, discrouaged, and lacked confidence, I stopped what I was studying and prayed. Prayers carried me thru and gave me a more positive outlook... as you will need the confidence during the exam.

i also used Kaplan,it was the 2007 edition but i still passed even if i only took the exam this sept, I also used the lippincott M.S. it also helped me...you just have to practice on answering as many questions as you can to be comfortable when you actually have to take the exam. don't forget to read about diseases & procedures, bec. those are the core of the NCLEX... goodluck

no, i had not tried that...
I guess it just comes down to how you analyze the questions when it comes to the actual exam.
it's just that Kaplan does simplify the techniques to be used on how to answer the questions, plus the questions are really good too...
