Just took nclex, but I'm stupid :(

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I know, I know how dumb I am for doing this. It was the end of my NCLEX, and I stood up to get out of there and now I'm dealing with an incident report.

Has anyone gone through this? I should have known doing the pearson vue trick would put me on hold. I am devastated at my idiocy.

Will they not let me have a license?

I am sorry, I don't understand what you did exactly....

Sorry. I just read my post, understand why it's confusing. I stoop up at the end of my NCLEX instead of raising my hand and now I'm facing an incident report. I don't know how what happens to my results.

This is a new one to me. It'd be up to the BoN to determine (or is it Pearson Vue??) whether you did something to compromise the integrity of the exam by standing up. Can hardly see this really being a problem, but you're right in that it would be enough to place your reslts on hold status. DOING the PVT didn't do that, the flagging of your file by standing up did.

All we can say is to hang in there, try to focus on something else for a while, and wait and see. Honestly, I really can't see this being any REAL issue, but....it might take a bit of time to get through.

Good luck!

Hi! I'm really hoping you respond. I just took NCLEX today and I did the exact same thing. The TA told me my recording would have to be submitted for review and now I'm just freaking out and wondering what will happen. Please let me know how it worked out for you.

All incident reports are reviewed by QA/QC. Results are held until the audit complete. Holds generally last around 72 hours. If you innocently stood up it's unlikely there will be any irregular findings and your hold will be released as will your results. More egregious errors such as accessing cell phones on breaks or bringing study material into the facility can result in the test being invalidated and a report sent to the board of nursing for possible discipline.

Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better. My test was already over and I just got up to leave for the exam and then sat back down, immediately remembering and knowing I had messed up. I haven't tried the PVT because I'm too nervous to try it not that my exam is being reviewed. I'm going to wait for the quick results but am planning on waiting longer because of my mistake.

It has been 18 years since I took that test. I don't remember not being able to stand up when it was done. But maybe that was way before cell phones because ubiquitous. Hope it all works out.

Just an FYI . . . https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/why-pvt-is-992306.html

Don't bother with the trick it will only announce your results are on hold. It will say not available for your results likely an extra day until the hold is lifted. They must QC for any incidents but odds are in your favor

This is a new one to me as well, BUT, your entire session is video taped and the video has a time stamp. I am pretty sure that the sequence of the video when you stood up will be a second or two later than the timestamp on the computer for when the test ended. As soon as they complete the audit, you should be cleared.

Remember that you are recoded, all you did was stand up. You might have a hold on your pearson vue until they see that all you did was stand up. You didn't cheat, you didn't do anything crazy. Relax and hang in there.

Thanks so much MommaTy! You're right. I know I didn't actually do anything wrong, I'm just frustrated that I made such a silly mistake, and also driving myself crazy wondering if I even passed or not!
