Just took NCLEX, Anyone else feel totally lost and disappointed??/

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

first let me say that i have always been very good at test taking and school work. i made it through a tough lpn program here and rarely had to study. so, of course i felt ready for the nclex today.

the test shut off at 85 but what is crazy is that the questions seemed to be nothing like what we learned in school. all of the hard material i learned in school, none of it was there. and the way the questions were worded, i felt so dumb.

and those questions that ask you to select all that apply!!!!

it was nothing like i expected, and i am so downhearted. i feel ripped off somehow. i felt so prepared and now i think a monkey could have sat for me and i would have just the same chances.

honestly, i don't see how 85% pass the first time. i felt totally lost. and it's not because i'm not smart, i did great in school, i've done great on the tests prior to this. oh gosh, i am so disappointed.

This sounds so much like me. I tested at 8am today, and I walked out of there feeling lost and have been ever since. I have always been a good student, I had a 99% chance of passing on the first try according to the ATI predictor, but all of that amounts to a hill of beans when that screen goes blank at 85.

I had meds I have never heard of, a lot of prioritizing, like they will give you 4 pt. and you have to figure out who to assess firs, I had alot of teaching, and how do you know it's effective. I had infection control, and enough select all that apply to drive me insane. I know I will be miserable until I know something.

You will find for most that take NCLEX either PN or RN feel the same way. Hang in there and good luck to the both of you

My ATI predictor said a 99% chance too! And the test you described sounds exactly like what mine was like!! Everything you mentioned in your post, I think that was ALL of my test and nothing else.

Let me know how you did, okay?

I find out about 3 tomorrow.

I will, as soon as I find out, and you let me know too. Even the RN's who tested when I did said that their test were the same way.

Have you found out your results yet? I am in the same boat. Cut off with me at 85 questions. It might as well been wrote in Hindu, because I didn't know half of that stuff.

if you go to the pearson web site and log in to your account you can check your status pay like $8 bucks and get your results in 24 hrs. Good Luck To All

Only if the state participates in quick results will you be able to do this and it is 48 hours or more never less. Some BON's may show results in 24 hours but not pearsonvue

the computer shut me off at 86 questions.

I can't believe that I failed this

I couldn't even understand what the questions were asking me.

thanks

for your blessings

I'm going to be a nurse no matter what

thank you for expressing my thoughts exactly! you also gave me the first smile of my doomsday of today! i have cried tears of fear and sadness today, but you just made me cry tears of laughter!! that is my feeling right now, down to the monkey!!! :chuckle

You've pretty much nailed the disconnect between nursing school, NCLEX and most of the review courses I've seen. It's a shame it has to be this way but it is what it is.

Don't give up. The test is designed to make you feel that way. It's all about the level at which you maintain a 50%. The number and type of questions mean nothing.

Good luck.
