Just failed a second time

Students NCLEX

Published

I just found out I failed again, awaiting to see the evaluation when it comes in the mail. I studied more this time and i failed quicker. I know I could have studied more than what I did :( I also did the Hurst review and i still have access for a little bit online and plan on using that. I also have several nclex question books and access to ati. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

I know the feeling. Took my 1st exam and failed. Took the most expensive review and stayed in the other state for 2wks just to attend the review. But don't give up just try to study again and try to change a lil bit in your study plan and you will make it!

What was your previous weaknesses? Did you focus on that as a part of your study plan?

To add: start to understand the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2.Health promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4.Psychosocial integrity

Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; the question may be Respiratory related-but is it a Health Promotion or a Safety, or a Physiological or a Psychosocial one? Would you know the difference and choose the BEST answer?

Once one understands the concepts of NCLEX, they can answer the questions successfully.

Also, moving forward start preparing like a mock NCLEX exam; start with the minimum, then work on adding 40-50 questions until you get to the maximum; review questions and rationales after each exam; that should give you a focus on what areas or information you may need to brush up on; do questions, study rationales; the go to source for content. :yes:

Thanks you both, I guess I always thought I could differentiate between the areas the questions come from but maybe I am weak in that area. I know I have a huge problem focusing for long amounts of time so maybe the mock exams will help. Thanks :)

I have a problem with priority. I know the abcs and to go with Maslows, but I have a hard time getting what is the lying risk sometimes with each patient, I think that throws me off

They say there is a great book by LaCharity that covers prioritizing that people swear by!

I may have to check into that. Only thing is I am way broke now so I don't know how long it'll be before I can buy one!

Just wanted to send a big hug your way. I failed as well. We will get through this and become the fabulous licensed RN's we were destined to be!

The NCSBN also has a test plan you can take time to read through as well to get a better understanding as to what they want.
