Hi, I took Kaplan. I took the class and the online questions. IMO, the online questions were SO MUCH helpful than the class itself. During the class, all you're doing is going over 75 questions or so individually and figuring out how to approach the questions. So pretty much you're just doing test taking strategies every class. The online stuff was well worth it I thought.

yeah kaplan online is good. i used it and helped me a lot on my exam. i took the nclex-rn exam last july 2006 and made it on my first try at 75... their strategies are very good.. however, it is so expensive.. but worthy.. goodluck on your exam..

I loved the online class. The regular in person classes conflicted with my work schedule... so I gave it a go. Most of my peers did the actual in person one, and told me that there isn't much content review and that one of the instructors really "cut corners" and didn't utilize the strategies when going over example questions for the class. When I did the online class, I loved how the content review and question review was taught by the directors of curriculum (basically the people who wrote the book). I was really intimidated by how much content I had needed to go over in the beginning, but the online classes made it much more manageable. I also thought the way it was presented was very concise. It made it easy to pick and choose areas I wanted to focus on.

As long as you have initiative to dedicate to the Kaplan online course, I cannot say enough good things.

Oh, and I JUST found out I passed, and I feel that the course was one of the major reasons why!

    GOOD LUCK!

I have to agree with everything that's been said here. I really like the way the online class is set up. I wish I could have done nursing school this way. IMO, the Kaplan online teachers are better than a lot of the ones I had in nursing school.

FYI: the video reviews add a lot more info and explanation than what's in the course book itself. And they make a point of telling you what's tested heavily on the exam.

And I really like the drug review: it helps you break down and review drugs at a manageable level.

Yeah ... it's expensive but ... there's a reason they can charge so much for it. I've gone through half a dozen NCLEX guides and this stuff is definitely the best, IMO

I too have heard the same thing ... although not so much that the teacher cut corners but that the online course was more useful. For one thing, you can go through the videos at your own pace and, stop and rewind if you need to go over something again.

They also have lots of videos which review test questions by content area. I can't say enough good things about it.

I was put off by the expense of Kaplan, although the nurses I know who used it, liked it.

I used Mosby's NCLEX CAT and found it exceptionally good in helping me prepare for my boards. It adjusts like the real thing, gives you feedback and you get unlimited uses for 30 days for about $43--and you can download it immediately, no waiting for snail mail or a class you share with other candidates.

I am in the same process of choosing an online LPN to RN program. I have a meeting with an advisor next Tuesday from Indiana State University affiliated with the College Network. Anyone know anything about that. And additionally what did Kaplan charge? Thanks for any input.

AVOID THE COLLEGE NETWORK LIKE THE PLAGUE!

They will suggest to you that you need them in order to complete your nursing program. You do not.

Go directly to the school advisors, deal directly with the school advisors. If you cannot get someone to allow you to do their distance program without TCN, then find a school that does.

You do not need them. Many before you have succeeded in learning all they needed to know, without the "aid" of the TCN.

They are expensive and they will not provide you with anything more than the school will give you, and you can find for free on the web.

I cannot tell you how many sad stories I have heard about people who have spent thousands on TCN believing that they had to do that in order to get their degrees.

As you consider each school, ask their advisors about TCN. I'll bet you the good schools will tell you "we don't have any relationship with them" or words to that effect. Maybe the so-so schools too.

I took both the class and the online trainer questions.

I feel that the online trainer questions along with the other information that Kaplan offers online was more helpful than the class.

I felt the class was boring, the instructor couldn't help us with rationales, and other students in the class would hold us up with discussion on some of the most easiest questions and would pass by discussion on harder ones.

I loved the online kaplan. The question trainers helped me out and the Q-bank really helped. I answered questions everyday. at least 100 at first then I did 200. Alot of priority questons and delegation in the Q-bank. And I finished all 3000 questions I had.

I would recommend Kaplan online to everyone!!!!!
