I'm starting to freak out about the NCLEX!

I finally got my ATT and made my appointment for July 14th. Ahhhhh, this is making it so much more real now, I have an actual date, time is counting down!!

I've just been doing a ton of questions from Saunders. I've done 2,000 questions from just that CD alone, that's not counting all the ones I did through the ERI when I was in school. I'm still doing them each day, 100/day.

I also bought the Kaplan book because I've read where a lot of people on here say that those questions are most like the NCLEX questions.

And I plan on buying the Mosby CAT online so I can start on those, to get a feel for how the computer adaptive testing works.

I feel like I'm not doing enough content review though. Should I be? I attended the ERI review during last week of school, it had a lot of content review but I don't think it really helped much because it was just so much info. I still have the book though, maybe I should be going back through the book and reading it?

I feel like I'm really weak in pharm. What should I be studying? There's so much to know, what should I focus on.

I'm just starting to freak out, I need some encouragement!! lol, I think I'm going nuts

I have one more day of the Kaplan course. I'm scoring in the high 60s on those tests, whereas my scores on Mosby, the RN-CAT, and all those NLN tests I took while still in school were in the high 80s. So I am definitely freaking out just a little ...

Still waiting on my ATT, so I haven't scheduled my date yet. Still traumatized by the fact that I won't be able to have my trusty bottle of diet Coke in the test with me. :chuckle

Six months from now we'll be laughing about this ... right?

I'm freaking out about the test as well and I take it next thursday. The Saunder's book and cd is good for review content and I'm using that as well. I'm also using the NCSBN site and Kaplan.

Yep, I'm freaking out too! I take it next Friday and I can't believe it's so close now! I think I'll be fine cuz I've been studying so hard with my questions, but it's still scary!!!!! I need to work on staying calm during it.

Sounds like you're doing everything you can to "study" for this exam. I took it yesterday - was doing questions consistently since June 4th. I took Kaplan - it helped a little with the priority and delegation. I did all of their trainer tests, did Mosby's CAT 4 times, did NCSBN.com and finished their questions...I think I did about 2,500 questions in 17 days. There was honestly no way to study for this...just know your lab values...and the basics about anithypertensives and assorted meds.

Just keep doing the questions and practice tests. And when you're done, review the questions so you can see why you got it wrong - and what the correct answer was. I think that saved me yesterday. I had a question on a Mosby's CAT about Carafate and antacids dosing and time of admin. I got it wrong on Mosby's - looked at the right answer - and a question very similar showed up yesterday...and it was #75 and then it shut off!!! :)

Best of luck to you....just keep a positive attitude when you go in there!! :)

:chuckle I was traumatized about not being able to have my diet coke with me too!! I am so addicted.. and the possibility of having to sit there for hours without immediate access to it was terrifying! Luckily, my computer shut off at 75 and it only took a little less than an hour.. so the withdrawal wasn't TOO bad :lol2:

Thanks everyone!! I'm so glad I'm not going through this alone!

MLOS - I sure hope we'll be laughing about this in 6 months!!

shyne - Is the stuff at the NCSBN site that you're doing free, or do you have to pay for it?

christvs - I need to work on staying calm too, I just have to force myself to focus and think positive things while I'm in there taking the test ... I know easier said than done, but I know it's so important!

Pam - Your words give me hope, thank you!!!! Have you gotten your results back yet? I bet the waiting is worse than the anticipation of actually taking the test! It sounds like you did fine though!

nurseamanda - Congrats on passing!!

I've still just been doing the questions from Saunders. I think this weekend I'm going to make notecards of lab values and some meds that I have a hard time remembering. Then I'll start doing some questions from the Kaplan CD.

FUN FUN!

You have to pay for it and it costs $49.00 for 3 weeks. It's really good because it has over a variety of 1000 practice questions and tons of priority, delegation, and some disaster questions as well. The tests are so hard, but I just hope that it will work out in my favor next week when I take the test. I recently signed up on Monday and I'm almost finished completing all of the tests.
