I got "near passing on everything"

I didn't finish my exam and I rushed through the last set of questions and I got my analysis and it said "near passing" on everything. My drive to study has been wilting since that day in October when I found out I failed. I have been answering questions from the Saunder's Comprehensive review book because I hope to use Suzanne's plan. Any advice from anyone who has taken the exam more than once or knows someone who has? I need to get back on track because I put in way more time studying the first time around than now and I am worried that I will take too long to get back into the groove of things--it's already been over a month!

My co-worker took the test 4 times, and on the 4th time she passed. She had everything, from kaplan to private tutors...
and she told me to use the kaplan book they sell at the stores. I bought that book, read it 3 times, and did the CD test once the few days before my exam.
To me, the exam is more about logic and not book work, that is why people always tell you to practice a lot with your test questions.

I suggest to talk to some buddies that you know from school who have passed, and have them give you tips on to how they studied.

I failed the first time around, I did Kaplan course , I did the Qtrainer two times and every Qbank question and I read each and every rationale whether i got it right and wrong ! I also did the Saunders book the chapters I was weak in I did ! After all of this studying I passed the second time around with 75 questions , i took 196 the first time. Think patient safety what is always safe for the patient and your meds. I also did Saunders CD and hit analysis questions only as those are the ones you will get on NCLEX ! Do medications off of Saunders too , I got 20 med questions and I knew them all except for one medication . But I knew when the test shut off I passed . I had a good feeling !

the exam is hard, you need to decide on what is the best way to study for you, some used Kaplan with god results, many use Suzanne with good results and some did their own study with a few different books.

Good luck and don't forget you will find many support here

I got near passing on everything except for pharma which is under passing... I think I'm a real dumb person because I guess I almost took all the NCLEX reviewers that existed on this planet from saunders, mosby, kaplan, ncsbn, HESI, lippincot everything.... and I still failed! wheeew! Well, I don't know what next to do.. I hope we still pass for the next attempt.. Good Luck.

and Brownsuga83

SUZANNES PLAN WILL GET U WHAT U NEED. FOLLOW HER PLAN EXACTLY and please use only 1 book and you will pass too. I passed on my 2nd try with her plan only. SAUNDERS BOOK & CD 3rd edition. Dont give up no matter what!

Try to exhaust different options that may work for you. For me, the second time around was a charm and I used the ncsbn website once and the Kaplan qtrainer twice. Also, you may want to try the Feuer nursing review cds because they foster what you already know and helps you better memorize some things that you may have forgotten. Good luck..you can do it!

you see, all your hard work pays off. THat is why when you take it the first time, you have to give it your all!!
I did kaplan, and honestly to me it was the best thing. I used their strategies througout the entire exam. and I passed with 75q. I thought I failed... but I didn't! and it is a great feeling to pass.

hard work pays off!!

You are not a dumb person at all!! you made it thru nursing school so you can make it thru this test.
First and foremost, I suggest you stick to one or two plans only. Because as from what you wrote above, it seems like you are doing too many things!!
You have all the materials you need to pass... but you have to get your mind to focus.
I used kaplan for questions, and I used Helen Feuer for content.
I did all kaplan questions, read the book while listening to the feuer CD's and added in the book anything that was needed.
I bought the book "kaplan strategies 2007-2008" and it was helpful on how to break down the question and explained maslow, abc, management of care... etc.
and that is what I did for 3 months to the date that I started my kaplan course.
I had to do everything that it takes to pass. I gave up doing things with my family, I didn't take the baby to her play group and we got kicked out of it.... but I don't care because I passed my test... that is just one thing among many.
I ended up passing with 75Q... I thought I had failed, and even posted here that I had failed because I felt so horrible. But in the end it turned out to be a great ending to my story.
Put in your part, and it will pay off. But definitely stick to one thing, so you dont' overwhelm yourself with so much stuff to study!!

Never rush this exam. It only looks at the last 60 questions to average out if you are passing or not. When you started rushing at the end is when you doomed yourself. Study, go in confident and take your time. Good luck in passing next time.
