I failed NCLEX-RN 1/9/08

by lfh09

I know I failed yesterday.

It shut off at 75, but I keep remembering questions (important ones) that I got wrong. I have never been so upset. I had A grades throughout nursing school. I had TWO med calcs-it seems like people who passed did not have these! Also, one drag and drop, priority, one delegation, lots of pharm and two or three select all that apply. Seems like everyone gets those, failing or not.
I am so depressed. I can't beleive I freaked out and failed it. I prayed for a miracle, but I feel in my heart it over.
I start a new job very soon. Do I have to tell them I failed? This was the worst day of my life.

I don't see any signs here that predict a failing result. Everyone ends up with a different mix of questions. The exam is set up so that both passers and failers get about 50% right, so that's why we don't recommend looking up answers after the fact.

Wait on your result. People make themselves physically ill from the negative assumptions sometimes.

I had 75 questions and 2 EASY med calc's and I passed. As hard as it is TRY not to read so much into who got what and how many. The test doesn't work that way.

Please do not feel beat, I recently took the NCLEX and it stopped @ 78 questions. I felt nervous truthfully panicked, "78- questions" but however I passed . My friend had 75 and she passed. Have faith.... as for telling your employer, that's up to you. I myself got tired of people asking me when I was taking the boards (I was an fulltime working LPN) and I did not tell any of my co-workers because they had too much advice/instruction to give.
Wait with anxiety 75 questions does not mean you failed. Hang in there.

IFH00--Good luck on your results. Keep thinking positive! I just took the NCLEX today and it shut off at 75 questions too. When I was taking the test I kept on thinking I am failing this. I did well on the Hesi exam (1022), so I didn't feel like I had to study much. I am regretting that decision. I had at least 10 pick all that apply questions, I hate those. It will be a long two days waiting for my results!

Hang in there and keep the faith.... Your test sounds typical to me. The tests are a mix.. no two are alike ;o). The "average" test taker will miss 50%. I have a feeling this is why so many feel so defeated! When was the last time you got a 50% on a nursing school test!?

Just breathe and wait for your POSITIVE results!!!
