Students NCLEX
Published Oct 2, 2014
My NCLEX journey (or nightmare) started around the beginning of July 2014. I had graduated in may and pushed off my test after various vacations etc. My exam was scheduled for July 11th 2014 and i ended up failing miserably and my test shut off at 190 questions, my friend whom i studied with also had failed at 265 questions. Now i must say we were not informed properly at all on how to study for this test and i had to learn from my own mistakes on what to do in the future to help me pass the second time around. The second time around my exam was scheduled for 9/29/14 and i passed the test EASILY in 75 questions as well as my friend. This forum is to tell you the various information i gained from long nights of research as well as my own personal tools i used to help pass the test. I can honestly say i WISH somebody would have given me this advice the first time i took this torturous test. This also may be the most updated forum, I've only seen forums from beginning of september or late august. BTW. I took the test in BROOKLYN, NY.
I will start off by telling you what i did the first time that i failed and why it DID NOT WORK.
The second time around i was determined to pass and hey, whatever i did worked. The NCLEX the second time was a COMPLETELY difference experience, and WAY easier. I made a 3 week study schedule and it was the perfect amount of time. Now i will share with you what i did, and what you should do too!

Thank you!! I am taking nclex on Friday and I'm seriously a nervous wreck right now. Trying to stay calm at this point. Hope I can give ncle the answer they want from me!

Congrats Lee Dawn on the passing of your NCLEX. Can I just ask you what is the NCSBN website you speak of? Also, what do you think about the level of the LIPPINCOTTS NCLEX review 3500?
Thanks a lot and good luck to Mariajasmin tomorrow!

Congrats in your success, I took my NCLEX pass weekend and I just found out I failed. It has been very hard for me to come to realization that I failed. I used Kaplan as my review guide and it did not work for me. I agree with you I felt Kaplan was not for me. Thanks for your advice, and again congrats may God bless you in everything you do he is a awesome God.

I passed in 75 questions on my first attempt and only used Kaplan. I think it's a great resource but I do agree you need to understand content to help your critical thinking. I did every question set and I think it prepared me for the NCLEX exam as it helped me think the language of NCLEX. The questions on Kaplan are much more difficult and complex than the NCLEX, I was expecting to feel like I had been put through the wringer on the exam but I didn't find it that hard. I had spent months reviewing content and I think that helped me a lot.

What did you use for content review? I want to start reviewing content very early before I start practice questions.
I used Kaplan and a little bit of Lippincott NCLEX review -make sure it is the content review and not just questions and answers. I also looked up ATI and put in the area of study I was interested in and did the chapter and the practice questions. I also found you tube videos really helpful with content I struggled with like EKG reading

I love it people share like this. This what we should be about. Congratulations.
Okay awesome, thanks! I've been following this forum for quite some time since they are bringing the NCLEX to Canada in 2015. I want to be fully prepared to write this exam.
