How I passed the NCLEX- study aids I recommend...

by fitnessangel25 Premium Member

I am recommending these resources b/c I think they really helped me and I have seen a lot of recommendations for Kaplan and the Saunders book on this forum but not a lot of other resources.

1. "Saunders online Comprehensive review"

There are 10 Modules total that are broken up into general topics and then broken up again into more specific topics. For example: Module 6 has "Safety and Infection Control Measures" and has 4 lessons under that including: providing a safe environment, disaster planning, standard, transmission-based and other precautions, and the use of restraints.
There are 'self-check' questions as you go through the slides and then a 100 question exam at the end of each Module. Also included is a diagnostic pre-test and cumulative exam. If money is a concern, this online resource costs under $50. You do need access to a computer with online access to complete any of these modules, however. I stole my husbands laptop for 4 weeks and went to a library with free wi-fi

2. Prentice Hall Nursing -Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN

This is a standard large NCLEX review book with a CD that has really good questions. It is broken up into the standard topics and allows you do 25 practice study questions with immediate feedback and rationales for all answers. The best part of this CD is it has a section broken down into "Client need" with NCLEX style questions such as 'Safe and Effective Care, Health Promotion and Maintenance, etc. The last week before all I did was these questions

3. My notes!!!
I was able to get through at least 70% of my notes and I think that may have helped the most. Remembering how I taught myself the concepts really helped jog my memory. Doing questions are great but sitting down and remember the patho of diseases really helped create a clearer picture for me.

Thank you for your tips!

One query though, are the questions/topics in the Saunders Online Comprehensive Review differet from the Saunders Comprehensive Book & CD?

I am not sure. I bought the book but didn't really use it. It may be the same information but the online version is broken down into a (I think) more NCLEX style fashion. Also the questions are different than the CD from the Saunders book. If you would rather do something more interactive and get bored by reading page after page (I do) than the online version would be better in my opinion.

Thanks for the tip. I have the fourth edition Saunder's review book, but do you recommend doing the Saunder's online review?

Thanks
