how to answer the computations in nclex

hi! im scheduled to take the exam on aug 09 and i would like to know how i should answer the computations in nclex. do i need to round it off? when you are provided a space to place your answer, do you type in : 0.6 ml ? or should it be just 0.6? or maybe just .6?

i don't like to miss out on computation questions because im not good in sata and drag and drop.

also, this may be a little off topic, but may i ask if it's worth buying the kaplan qbank for $300?? or would studying the saunders cover-to-cover help me pass my exam?

my hubby has bought a couple of books for me already, like: frye's 3300 nursing bullets, nclex rn in a flash, nclex rn new format questions, kaplan nclex rn, rea's interactive flash cards and saunders w/ cd 4th ed.

i'd feel so bad if i fail because my hubby might think i didn't make good use of all the books he bought for me.

The question will indicate how it wants the answer rounding up.

Do not go overboard on study material and overdo it.

I used Saunders and NCSBN...and I thought they were great in helping me prepare. I also used the Mosby CD for practice questions. I had 75 questions and finished in less than an hour. According to the Pearson Vue "trick," I passed. I would also recommend like the poster above me not to go overboard on material. But the 2 best study tips I can recommend are DEFINITELY know content (not just strategy), meds and s/e, infection control, and delegation. And then second, practice questions til you can't anymore! I did hundreds of questions from many different sources (NCLEX 3500 is free online and a good resource) and did anywhere from 100-300 questions/day. Make sure to read the rationales, even if you got the answer right. Good luck to you!

Also, for calculations, you have a tutorial at the beginning of the NCLEX that shows you how to answer them (as far as rounding and units). And if it shows you the units, you won't have to type them yourself.

First Aid Re: how to answer the computations in nclex
Try not to get too anxious. I took NCLEX yesterday, found out I passed today with 75!! Thank God. I went into the test center telling myself not to look at the number of question I was on. I did not want to psych myself out if I hit question number 76!! I would have to answer the question in front of me...no matter what number I was on. I just think it is so critical to remain calm, read the questions, and work your way mentally through the answers.

Best of luck! You can do it!!!
