HESI vs NCLEX-PN..Please reply!

Updated Sep 12, 2006 at 05:22 PM by LUVtxNursing

Hello all,

I'm sure this question is somewhere on this forum, but I could not find it. Anyway, my question is...of those of you that had to take HESI, how did it compare to NCLEX?? The reason I'm asking is, my school required us to take HESI and make 850 or above to graduate. They told us that if we made 900 or above we should be ready to take NCLEX and should not need much review. Has anyone found this to be true?? I made a 965 and I"ve scheduled my NCLEX for October 7. I hope they're right, cause I'm not killing myself on studying.

i took my nclex pn yesterday and yes its pretty much like the hesi, i had gotten a 87% chance of passing nclex exam according to hesi.
i would recommend studying the nclex pn cram, the exam is similar questions, will keep you posted to let you know if i passed, pc shut off at 85

To me they were totally different....I thought the HESI was harder because it was more knowledge based (diseases, labs, skills ect). We were required to make a 900 or above on HESI...but I still did plenty of Q's before taking the NCLEX-RN. I passed w/75. Good Luck

Thanks so much and good luck to you, I'm sure you passed!! I talked to a friend that took the NCLEX today and said there was alot of stuff on there that she had never heard before. That kinda scared me, but I've always been a good test taker so I'm sure I'll be ok. Let me know how you do.

Our school required we take the HESI and pass w/ an 800 or else we couldnt take the NCLEX. For me, the HESI was more difficult..I had to take it twice. But the NCLEX-PN I only had to take once and passed. Soooo does the HESI really determine how well u will do on the NCLEX? hmmmm..food for thought. Also at my school they didnt prepare us to take the HESI, they just told us the time and date to be there whereas the NCLEX there are a ton of practice books and exams online. My advice for taking the NCLEX is u know what u know, I would definitely do as many practice questions as possible, I used KAPLAN 2010 and did a ton of questions online, also study your notes from class. Good Luck!
