HELP! TOOK NCLEX-RN 9 times!!!!! Keep failing!

Students NCLEX

Published

Hello all! So I am so bummed. I graduated nursing school in 2011. Just took my boards again for the 9th time and failed. I went to 265. I don't know what to do. I did improve if that makes sense. (I know what you're thinking improved after 9 times.) well yes I am a HORRIBLE test taker. School was a challenge for me but I made it. Do I try it one more and final time? I have a tutor and she's awesome! She helped me improve. I feel like I am right there. I can see it and I can feel it. But what should I do?!

Have you done the review course with Hurst or Kapplian? So is the limit of times for nclex 10? Are you doing 100 questions a day everyday? When you answer the questions can you state why your answer is right and the others are wrong? Have you thought about doing an RN review at school if you didn't know this stuff you would have never graduated. You have to go in with the attitude that it is the first and only time for taking nclex and you are passing this test. You can leave feeling as though you failed it but you MUST go in believing you are going to pass. Good luck.

But what should I do?!

Perhaps it is time for some serious self-reflection. I don't buy "horrible test taker" for 9 NCLEX failures. You've had plenty of time to understand how to read and answer the questions. If it's been 9 times, then it must be a content issue. You have now spent how many years and how much money on a test? Do you need to repeat a nursing program? Do you need to consider that perhaps nursing is not for you? Before jumping into a 10th attempt, consider your options.

I have done hurst and Kaplan. And I have been doing 100 questions a day. I can state why. Some questions I get I really have no clue but I try my best to answer the question. The results last time I took the test were all above passing, and near passing.

I am thinking nursing is not for me. Maybe I can be a paramedic. At least use my sciences for something not let them go to waste.

please don't give up.. take a break and start studying! write rationals they do help when you re read the rationals you get wrong. NCLEX Mastery its nice cheap app and you can use it on your lap top.

Remember when you write intervention it sync in better in your head.

GOOD LUCK DONT GIVE UP

I have heard stories of people failing nursing school and stopping and then get back on it and pass and they have been out of school for like 10 years. I've been giving it my all. It's like right there and I come up short every time. I'm not failing miserably.

Only you know your true potential & pls dnt let any negativity stop you from pursuing your goal. I pray that you retain the knowledge you need to conquer this test. Best of luck!!!

I encourage you to pursue non nursing options. Even if you were to pass on your 10th or 11th try, securing a job would be highly difficult with six year gap. As a hiring manager (which I have been before) I would not consider an applicant with such a gap, nor would I have confidence in the abilities of a RN who could not pass in 9 times.

I am sure you can have a wonderful and fulfilling career. I doubt nursing is it.
