For people who have passed the NCLEX, if you can share with the rest of us what worked for you and what didn't. What should we focus on? What books you used? How you studied? How long you studied?

Now that you have passed the test, you know how the test is. I know some people say it was not that bad and some people say it was the hardest test ever.If you had failed, what would you want someone that had passed the test to tell you about the test that could better prepare you for the test?

Studying 24/7 helped me pass 1st time with 75Q

I used Kaplan complete course... and did everything

I also used HESI and Helen Feuer audio when I finished kaplan.

I took 3 months to study.

If I had failed the test... I would of just studied something else, I would of gone to hurst review, & done the questions on the saunders CD & all the other books I collected from nursing school

i have the kaplan complete online review course and pass with 75 questions... I only used kaplan and i study religously and understand the kaplan sample questions... i studied 3-4 hours each day for 2 months... and i keep on praying to God..

I did the Hurst Review and I didn't study 24/7. I just re read the book she gave us and listened to her lectures 3 times. I felt like her review only helped directly on maybe 3 questions and the rest I narrowed down to two and picked the one that would kill them first. I took one practice test using Kaplan and only missed 47 questions out of 180. After that I felt a little better.

Then I took the test and I kept trying to figure out if I was getting priority questions or if I was getting them right and totally freaked myself out.

I got 84 or 85 questions and I passed.

Silverdragon's right, there are a lot of posts on it that could give you a lot more advice.
but one thing I really wish had been engrained in me:

Because of my friends experiences and my school, in my head I thought if i know my stuff I wont get many more than 75. Beause of that I was freaked out from question 74 to about quesiton 150. And i know that those questions suffered because I was so freaked out, lol i ended up with 265 questions. go figure, but i still passed!

also bring snacks and water for your breaks!

Hurst review, is that a prep class like kaplan or is that a book you purchase? sorry, iam not familiar with it. If the hurst review only helped you on three questions, would you say it was a helpful program? would you recommend it to me?

I took the hurst review also. Its a prep course. Like all study materials, you never know what you will be tested on in NCLEX because they have a bazillion quesitons in their test bank. But I valued the course's ability to re-explain my basics, and really prep my mind for how to approach the questions. I did well throughout nursing school but still learned from the course.

I completely agree. I had a couple friends who had passed at 75 and one who passed at 265. They all told me I would def. pass at 75. So I kept telling myself I wanted 75 q's, but reminded myself if I got more I would be ok. I ended up w/76 and passed. Don't get caught up on what number you are on or if you have more than 75..take a deep breath at q76 and think bring it on NCLEX i can do this!
