I agree! Slow down and reassess! As nurses and nursing students we are constantly reminded to assess first before implementation. You have to make the decision to test or not retest when you are calmer. My thoughts on it are that you've come this far so why not finish what you started?

I took a review class in preparation for boards from Hurst. (http://www.hurstreview.com) It was excellent and very easy to understand. It focused on content review, not just testing strategies. It was extra money but well worth it! If nothing else read the testimonials on the site and then call "Aunt Marlene" (the owner of the company) and explain your situation-they are truly interested in having everyone pass the boards and committed to making sure that happens (no matter how many tries it takes). Alot of people take her review after failures and pass.

If nothing else, don't give up! Many of the greatest nurses struggled to pass boards! Hang in there!

I studied 8 hours a day..reading Saunders 4th Edition and doing practice test 100, in the morning and 100 in the afternoon. Then i read the rationale on why i get it wrong. Saunders doesn't give you much about Infection Control..it just give you the basic standard precautions etc...I studied in the Philippines for LPN. I am on the top 5 of my class..so its either because i studied in Manila or there is something wrong with me. I know my English very well, i am not stupid not to understand it. I guess iits just the way the test is formatted. Strategies on how to answer CAT. I have never done this kind of test before. I am CNA here in the US. When i took my CNA Board in Illinois is a paper based exam..I ace it. took just once and i pass. I don't know why I can't pass this NCLEX-PN. I am so frustrated because it says it actually test your minimum competency but the way i see it..It test you on your whole knowledge of nursing content. Do i need to memorized the whole book to pass this test. I read the whole Saunders already and this is my 3rd time and still failure...SO what is wrong or something wrong? I don't i really like giving up..This is going to be my 4th time to try it..and it just scared the hell out of me to do it again and know that it will fail me again..

brichie, it could definitely be your English. I am not being harsh, but the CNA exam is much simpler and far more direct in the questions. NCLEX is sneaky.

Find a way to pay for a CLASS.

And good luck.

How you've done before is not a true comparison for the NCLEX-PN. It is a different ballgame all together. From your posting it sounds like you have the studying part down but maybe it's the way and the content that you are studying that isn't helpful?
Think positive and don't say that you're going to fail the 4th time when you haven't taken the test yet. Give yourself a chance!

I just feel bad ..so bad because i felt like this time i could have made it. I want to surprise my mom this holiday cause her dream is for me to become a nurse, well its also my dream but something is not making it happen for me. Things happen for a reasons..maybe GOD doesnt want me to pass yet..I dont know. I just hate the thought of waiting for another 45 days to resit the exam and i dont know where to start right now since i lost my job and no money at all..putting too much time and energy to pass it but I failed..so I am hurting right now...

It must be something you're not understanding when you're taking the NCLEX. Did they ask you questions about diseases you knew? did you know what system they arise from and what system they affect? meds? infection control is a HUGE priority when testing for the PN. if you private message me your email address, i would be happy to send you some things that i have. You just need to reconfigure HOW you're studying, i guess. for some reason what you're doing isn't working. If you can afford $129 you should absolutely sign up for KAPLAN QBANK-PN online. thats pretty much all that i used to study and it is the best prep out there for nclex.

WAIT A MINUTE WAIT A MINUTE!!!! I failed 3 times and just passed on the 4th try last week. I fully understand all the crazy emotions that you are going through but you must stay strong. One thing that I have noticed is that studying is overwhelming and is not that you dont know the info but how to apply it. Practice test strategies and questions here and there but give yourself a mental break. You are not stupid by far you made it through nursing school and family and friends dont understand it because they know nothing about the nclex. DONT LET ANYONE DISCOURAGE YOU OR STEER YOU FROM YOUR DREAMS!!! if you need to talk let me know b/c I just crossed this terrible hurdle and when you get there it will feel amazing. Keep your head up and stay strong and pray about it. things will work out!!!
