Going Bananas

Updated Nov 30, 2006 at 12:32 PM by dollface99

It's very hard to retake the NCLEX- RN for a second time but figuring out why you failed is even harder. I know for certain that the nursing material wasn't the problem but the strategies and not thinking clearly because of anxiety and a flu is the major reason why I failed. That doesn't help me because I am passing my practice test in saunders NCLEX- RN review. It also seems that my strategies are fine, but sometimes wrong and needs alittle direction. Right now, I study at least 3 hours in the morning and 5 hours at night. I think thats enough because it's working out very well. Does anyone else feel the same way I do it so please share your story, or advice

Hi,
I know a few people who failed the NCLEX_RN first time.I took a review class and passed the first time. I recommended that they take it and they did. They passed the second time. I don't know if im allowed to give the name of the review class on this site? It's a very well known one that has been around along time and the intructor is very funny. She goes over testing strategies. Try a book if you havent already by Mosby called Delegation,Prioritization and Assignment. Very helpful since those are big test subjects on the NCLEX. Stay positive and remember you made it through nursing school you obviously know something.

Hi,

I know what you are going through. I took NCLEX-RN twice, and failed. Took a review course twice, and I don't know. I thought I had the strategies down. Now, I'm doing Saunder's Comp. Review with Suzanne. I am also struggling because I was told by my Nurse Manager to take the NCLEX-PN, and in a few months take the NCLEX-RN. She did it when she was in school and she passed, and she's fearly young. Not to say that it will happen to me, but it's an option that I am looking at.

Just stay strong, stay positive, and know that you will PASS.

I've also failed NCLEX-RN twice and am very discouraged. I've thought about taking NCLEX-PN, but a nurse I work with told me not to because they focus more on skills than my state's RN program and that it could be harder for me. So I've decided to take the RN exam for a 3rd time and go from there.

You have to do what's best for you. Now that you are studying for the NCLEX, are you doing a review course? How are you studying this time around?

I am doing the Suzanne study guide, which is helping. It's hard to read through the whole review book but I do at least 2 chapters at a time. Stay positive Born2b RN, good things comes to those who wait, and study hard, three times a charm, stay strong.

Nurse Re: Going Bananas
Hi, I am in the the position as you. I also failed and I am currently studying very hard to pass. I was studing about 6-8hr/day for about 6wks or more for my previoius test and was sick with the flu when I took it. I now know not to study that hard and to give myself more time before taking it again. Right now I am doing suzanne's first step of her study guide. Keep the faith because thats what I am doing. We will be RNs.
Stay possitive and believe in yourself!!
