Getting a math question wrong!!!

Oh my God!!! I am so upset with myself. I just took the NCLEX-RN today and it stopped at 76. I'm not worried about the number of questions I got because the postings on here convinced me that the number of questions you got have no bearing on your result. BUT!!! And I do mean a BIG BUT!!! Toward the end of the 76 questions, I got a math question. I had a lot of math practice while I was studying and felt very confident going into the exam. But for some reason I froze at converting mcg to mg. I know, bone head mistake. I was getting some weird number like 24,863mg/min. I know, didn't make sense. I was seriously stuck on that question for good 7-8 minutes. I knew for sure I got it wrong. I memorized the questions and solved it when I got home.

My question is, since I know I got that wrong, the exam stopped at 76(without giving me an opportunity to redeem myself) is that a good indicator I failed. I think I read some where on a thread that Math questions were considered easy level questions.

I was so upset with myself after that question, I was begging the exam to give me another math question.

What do you guys think?

You just can't predict with this exam, honest stressing out about it now isn't going to change anything. Hang in there and good luck

Sorry... forgot all the little indicators of pass / fail. Took it a few years ago.

How do you feel you did? Did you guess a lot? Or are you confident you saw all the tricks in the exam?

The prep course I took was way more difficult than the actual exam. I guessed at one question. I was certain all my other responses were correct. My screen also went blank at question 76, and I knew I'd passed immediately. Checked the guessed answer when I got home, and it too was correct.

Good luck!

When I took my nclex-rn exam last feb24 I got 1 computation, i had a hard time converting units and it's really my weakness and I didn't even got enough practice on drug calculations.I felt tired because it took me a couple of minutes realizing I dont know what I am doing. Ha-ha. So I decided to move on and make a very wild guess Then I computed it at home with the help of somebody then I found out the right answer, and ofcourse I got it 100% wrong But it didnt stop me believing that its just 1 of the questions that I answered, certainly I got the other questions correct, but im nervous also by that time while waiting for the result. Luckily, I stopped at 75 and passedJust pray

Thanks!!! It makes me feel a little better knowing that someone passed while getting a math question wrong. It'll make me feel even better to know that I passed. It was weird. Calculations/conversion were one of my top strengths while studying. Oh well, what's done is done. It'll probably be another few days till I find out my result. Thanks again.

Had my test last April 1, 2009. Got 6 math questions. All of it deals with converting mcg to mg. I was really really angry with myself and the situation because I don't know the answer. I kept on saying to myself, "Of all the possible math questions why would the computer pick this one. If it was solving dopamine and dobutamine drip or even computing IV infusion would be easy." Imagine it was 6 questions involving that same specific topic. To cut the story short, i finished the 265 items in about 5 hours. But good thing, i passed!

So i am just telling my story to inspire you, not to lose hope and continue believing in yourself. You have done a good job and its up to the one above if it was meant for you or not.

You can do it. Hope you pass. Continue praying!

Thanks for sharing your story. I really appreciate it. It actually does make me feel a little better knowing that you passed. I know that doesn't guarantee I will pass, but your story did give me some hope. Congratulations and good luck to you in the future. I will definitely continue to pray. God Bless.

Well you report later that you passed, so guess that one math question didn't hold you back! Good job!

Yup. This was probably the most unusual exam I have ever taken in my life. That just proves that you can never tell with this exam.
