Getting horrible scores on nscbn tests

Students NCLEX

Published

I'm so grateful that my school purchased this review for us. I really like it and feel as though these questions mostly resemble nclex style questions. However, I can't help but feel discouraged about the nclex since I can't seem to get above a 60 percent on these exams...

Just wanted to vent and see if anyone else find these questions really hard or is it just me?

I am not doing NSCBN to prepare, but using Kaplan and I can sympathize. The questions are definitely tough. I'd say you should gauge your scores on what is recommended for the tests you are taking. Kaplan recommends a 65% and I am getting anywhere from a 58-74% on my questions, so it ranges and I feel inconsistent. I think the key is just to keep answering questions and breaking down exactly what it's asking. That in itself is very helpful. Best of luck to you!! :)

I am doing both Kaplan and NSCBN....I am averaging 60% in Kaplan and 77% on NSCBN. I test this Thursday and do not know if I feel prepared :(

Have you done Trainers 6 and 7? If you got 60% on both you should be good to go. If in doubt you can reschedule 24h prior to your actual date. I'm ready to get this NCLEX experience over with, it is more stressful than nursing school! Good luck, let us know how it goes!! :)

You aren't alone. I'm using NSCBN and my scores vary. I got 70% on the diagnostic test. The post tests anywhere from 50-85%. My strategy is do a ton of questions and read all of the rationales. I'm also using saunders review and kaplan strategy book.

Good luck studying!

Dont worry. I feel you. My scores vary. From 50%-70%.

Glad I'm not the only one. NSCBN says 75 is passing. I hope I can get there before I take nclex. Good luck to anyone testing soon.

You are not alone my scores are really bad, scored 55% on the assessment test. My highest so far is 60, but on ATI test am in the 80s. NCSBN makes me feel like I don't know nothing. Itz Ok cos it makes me study even more.

I made an 83% on the diagnostic ncsbn...I was absolutely shocked by my score. I have not been able to match it in anything since then. My weakness seems to be risk potential so i am really concentrating on that area today :)

I don't want to reschedule my exam but these nerves are about to do me in :(

LTaylor: The diagnostic is expected to be one of the higher scoring exams b/c it contains more content than the actually Qbank and the QTs as you continue to advance through your studying. I think it is a great idea to do questions in any area that you haven't received a 65% in and keep reading those rationales! They are so helpful. My Classroom Anywhere instructor for Kaplan mentioned that you should absolutely not do any studying the day before the exam. EEK! I know it's probably so tempting, but use today get through it, you can do it. I can't wait to hear how it went!! :)

Postive thoughts & Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the information!! I'm still going to study the day before! I have always done this as it is my comfort :)

I'm going to read the study guide from Allnurses and review labs for sure!

This. ^^^

The old adage "if you don't know it the day before the test, you're not going to" is mostly true.

Relax people! It's not that bad.

My buddies and I went out and played pool, and had a beer the night before. We laughed, joked, and celebrated!

You've all earned the right to take this test, with years of hard work and sacrifice. Now go own your moment. :)
