Wow, sorry to hear this. I have no idea what happens now. Twenty years ago, in PA, you got 2 chances to pass and then you couldn't work as a graduate nurse any more. I believe you could continue taking the test indefinitely, though.

Im confused. I just read another post that was started by you this month where you said that you had just taken NCLEX and failed it for the 2nd time. I thought that they made you wait 90 days between attempts?

PS I looked at your online profile and it says that you joined the site a little over a week ago, and you have posted of having taken and failed NCLEX twice in that time? Im not trying to flame here, but I am confused.

I'm not sure but never give up. You will succeed. Take some time to re-group and take a breather. It's hard work... I'm about halfway done and already exhausted.

I took it for the first time in November, in MI you only have to wait 45 days, so I took it again for the 2nd time on Tuesday and failed. I hope that clarifies .

I meant that I failed it twice, not 3 times, i'm just very upset and my mind isn't there. I want to know if anyone else has been in my boat..........I just don't know what to do.

Melissa, I am sorry you failed twice and sorry you were forced to justify yourself. I know personally through another forum how that feels. Just ignore that post altogether as you have enough on your mind. I really don't think any harm was meant there's just a doubting Thomas in every crowd. Do you have any clue as to whether it might be test anxiety? Lack of concentration? You know you can do it, you made it through nursing school. I failed my clinical the first time and it was all nerves. The problem is each time you go back the nerves get worse. I hate to sound like a druggy but I took Ativan before taking my NCLEX because I knew I would need something to calm me down. I'm usually the first one done with any test and during NCLEX I forced myself to sit and answer each question very slowly. I read the question first, didn't look at the answers, sat there with my eyes closed and thought of what the answer should be and then opened my eyes to see if it was there. I ended up taking all 265 questions so I took the full time but I did pass. Good Luck to you.

I can Feel for you! Honest! I failed 5X before passing. I'm an RN now,and as frustrating and hurt as I was,my friends and family would NOT let me give up! I took the review courses,I used the falsh cards, etc. I bought the NCLEX review book with the study CD-ROM with it which was xtremely helpful! I have MAJOR TEST ANXIETY. I took beta blockers to decrease my heart rate and even went through hypnosis to help with the test anxiety. I took Buspar(anti-anxiety) for a few months while studying for the NCLEX the final time. It worked for me.

I spoke to the State Board when I was re-applying,and was never turned down for re-taking the exam. Check with your state board,ok?

I wish you all the best of luck, and my prayers go out to you. I really DO know how you feel. Take Care. Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

I too have test anxiety. I took a beta blocker before testing for the 2nd time. I failed on the second attempt also. I noticed you mentioned you tried hypnosis. Did you do this for your final time, or the other times? Just wondering because my mother-in-law thinks I should try hypnosis, she said it worked for a friend of hers who had to take NCLEX 3 times.

I never tried hypnosis....has anyone out there tried it though? I would consider it.

Since the exam is national and not really state-based, I think the rules apply all around. You are allowed to take the NCLEX up to 8 times in a year and I believe that equals to 45 days between each retake.

Hang in there otherwise, relax and just remember your ABCs, AD(O)PIE, and Maslow's hierarchy.

Take care
