I took the NCLEX this Tuesday, July 15 and I KNEW I didn't pass as soon as the computer shut off at 75 questions. Yesterday after checking the BON website and failing to find an RN license issued in my name I was DEVASTATED to say the least. I plan to retake the exam as soon as 91 days is here. I just hope that I can retain everything I've already learned. Three months justs seems sooooooo terribly far away.

HOWEVER, WE WILL PASS THE NCLEX!!

I too failed the NCLEX on July 10 this year. I plan to take it as soon as i can after 91 days. My comp. shut off at 78 questions; I just didn't get enough of the more difficult ones right to pass. I just signed up for an online Kaplan review course. It seems very detailed and organized- it helps you learn how to answer questions and eliminate the wrong answers. Its kind of pricy, $374, but you get unlimited use online for 3 months and you get some CD's and a course book. I wish the best of luck to those of you taking the NCLEX and congrats to those that have passed. Stay encouraged. We will all pass!

    Jacel,
Don't let it get to you. I graduate in 2004 and I took my boards for the 5th time last Friday and yet failed again. If you want it bad enough than you learn from your mistakes and you pick your books back up, and get ready to take it again. What more can we do?... Keep practicing as I will and good luck! -Em

    Hello everyone,

I see so many posts on people passing the boards their first try but unfortunately, I am one who didn't. I know I am not alone but I wanted to hear from anyone who may have had similar problems with anxiety in taking the NCLEX. I know for me I pushed myself way too soon to take the test after graduating, getting married, honeymooning and taking the test the following week.

After about question 88 I had a panic attack and my pulse started racing. I never recovered and the computer shut off at 155 questions. I had no idea how I did until today.

I plan on taking Kaplan's online course as my second prep class and hope it helps better than the first course I took.

So if anyone has any words of wisdom for me, I would appreciate it.

Here's to Abraham Lincoln who never gave up and neither will I.

    Hi There,
Some of us are not as lucky as others when it comes to testing. My story i graduated one of the top in my class excellent grades, and all.Last week I went to take my nclex exam,Just before I walked in I get a phone call from My daughters school nurse "Im just calling to verify your daughters absence" My reply was a scream in to the phone "WHAT".The nurse tell me to hold on she will call me right back to verify it with the office.I said you need to call me back immediately Im walking in to take my state boards,You call me back if i dont answer leave a message so i know.To make a long story short my daughter was in school. She was in an in school suspension,So thats where my focus was,Her and what was going on.I barely took my time on the questions.I skimmed through them and got the full 205 questions.I walked out of there knowing I failed planned for it and everything LOL.I can retest in december I am studying using mosbys and saunders and 10 other books. So I know Im not alone and your not either. My kids are staying home from school the next time.Best of Luck to you Youll make it and so will I

No, You are not alone- I just recently failed my NCLEX also--I have cried, cried, cried etc. But now I realize I must take this stupid test again and crying is not helping me do that! So, I will give you a word of advice--the results of your NCLEX will not determine the type of nurse you will become-your patients will not ask you if you passed your boards the 1st time--But we both know that passing boards is a MUST-so I can not tell you not to worry, because I am extremely worried and lost at this point. Just don't give up! I have a quick question for you-if I take my test again in another state will I have to wait the 45 days?
Thanks-I hope you recover your confidence!

    Hi there,

I too failed the NCLEX. I am devastated. It just makes you feel so low about yourself. I KNOW I can pass it. I know I am capable. I dont know what happened that day. It turned off at 265 and I had a horrible feeling in my gut when I left. I am of course not giving up but I cannot shake this feeling of embarrassment and shame. To make it worse, my good girlfriends from school took the test in 40 mins and passed. The test took me 4 hours. I worked so hard and even took a Kaplan course. I know how you feel, you are not alone. The fact of the matter is that we can pass, and we will. The best of luck to you!

    Jacel,

You have what I don't have and need...COURAGE, CONFIDENCE, AND DETERMINATION. I just graduated in June, finished taking the Kaplan and thought I was ready to take the CA boards next week, but cancelled because I felt I wasn't ready. I think I'm overstudying. I pushed to schedule in 4 weeks, I know i'll be ready by that time. Good luck and Congrats on being married.
