Failed Nclex Twice Need Help!!!!

  1. I graduated LPN school about 1 year ago and have taken the NCLEX exam twice and failed both times. I took the whole 200+ questions both times and haven't been able to pass. I need help. I graduated with a B average from school and my teachers thought i would have nothing to worry about. But now I am getting really down and I really want to become a nurse. It is want I want to do with the rest of my life!!!! I wanted to go to bridge over for RN but I have reached a bump in the road. So now I need to study to get over this bump and continue my journey. I did practice questions a ton of them so any suggestions now would be great. I have been trying to find videos with lessons on them but i am haveing a hard time. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!!!! PLEASE,PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!

    Hey Candy!
Don't let this get you down too much which I know that it's hard not to. When I graduated LPN school I studied nothing but my Mosby, when you buy these new they come with a CD-ROM that has practice questions and quizzes on it and that's basically how I passed. Where I live I had to take an LPN challenge exam to bridge over to RN and all I studied with for that was Mosby. Hope that this helps. I'm in TN so the exam could be different here thatn where you are at.
    Good Luck,
    Amanda

I feel you, I has failed my LPN boards 2 times also an ha one more chance. I brought the Saunders Comprehensive book for PN. I studied at least 2-4 hrs daily and maintained that routine. I finished the book and went through it a second time, then I went to take my boards and passed with 85 questions. Now that worked for me, maybe that much studying is over kill for some, but for me, I hit the bullseye!. Be encouraged and don't quit, press forward and strong with endurance constantly and your heart desire will be granted.

I agree with the Saunders guide. I took LPN boards in 95. I don't remember what I used for it but I did use saunders comprehensive guide for the RN boards and passed on try one using Saunders. I recommend studying like the above poster. Good Luck!

Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth... don't change any answers think, take two answers away from your choices and then go with your gut and instincts. That is what I did when I went in and took my NCLEX PN and it paid off... Study Guide I used our school gave us th NCLEX PN Comprehensive book which is RED, and then I went out and spent $30.00 on Saunders Question and Answer which is BLUE, I read the blue one from front to back, I really think it helped me. Good LUCK PS I say a prayer for you!

There is no passing percentage or grade. It is a pass/fail decision. You either pass it or not. You do not get a score.

The 95% you are talking about is when the computer makes it discison when it is 95% sure of a pass of fail . When we toke the CAT test at school it is a simulation of the nclex you need a 61% in all catagories to get a pass discision by the computer. Then it would total all the catagory percentages and that was you total percentage and to pass the total percentage had to be 61% or better. I am not sure if this is how the nclex specifically works because they dont say. but I do know for sure that the 95% is when the computer is 95% sure of a pass or fail. Hope this helps. AmyMarie

You aer correct about the 95% confidence rating. The score of 61% is not true. If you would like information on the scoring of the exam, you can view a power point presentation at: http://www.ncsbn.org/testing/psychometrics_faq.asp
