FAILED NCLEX TWICE

  1. I failed again I first took NCLEX in 2009 I don't really consider it coz that time I was not really prepared and when I failed that year I said I will NEVER take NCLEX again coz failing was just too painful. Then it happened again...last week. Purchased the Quick Results so I found out I failed again. I know I gave out my best this time but I guess my best wasn't good enough. I enrolled myself in an intensive review class and spent 3 weeks to go over the notes and prepared myself.

I think I let my anxiety took over me coz minutes before the exam I panicked and thoughts of storming out the test center and not taking the exam were all in my head. Good thing I was able to control it and brought myself back to reality.
I was really devastated of the result and thought again of never taking it anymore. I felt so down like I was so stupid but now I have realized true failure is not failing the exam but quitting without trying again. So I decided to register again. I am just waiting for my ATT from the Nevada BON. I just have a few questions though and I hope whoever can relate will answer me or give out some tips (if u dont mind). It will really be appreciated.

    1. Retake policy is 45 days after the administration of exam. Does it mean Nevada BON will send me my ATT after 45 days too?

    2. How many times will Nevada BON allow me to take NCLEX?

    3. How can I study effectively? Im aware Im weak in the cardiovascular system, EKG reading and interpretation, stuff like that. I also know that it will be after 6 weeks before I will receive my performance paper. So I have no idea in what areas I was weak at in the exam

    4. Any tips or advice for a retaker like me?

Thank you in advance and god bless us all

So, I will point this out before a mod does, but if you haven't passed your NCLEX, you are not allowed to put RN in your username.

That being said, it is no wonder why you failed this time around. It has been eight YEARS since you graduated from nursing school.

I don't know anything regarding Nevada BON's rules, but I would definitely take some refresher nursing courses. I also used Heurst and passed with minimum amt of questions in under 2 hrs. I did numerous NCLEX practice questions using ATI and read the rationales for the questions I missed.

    Best wishes!

Yes I only knew about not putting "RN" after I have already registered with that username. Will I be able to edit it?

Yes it has been 8 yrs since I graduated that is why I enrolled myself in a review class instead of just reviewing by myself. I know somebody who just passed NCLEX, we graduated the same year.

    Thank you for sharing though

First time test takers fresh out of school need more than three weeks to study. You failed once fresh out of school and thought you could review it all in the weeks and that was "giving it your all?" I'm sorry, I'm going to be a little harshly realistic here, but you need a reality check. You need a solid several months of review. You need to purchase a Kaplan subscription and go through every qbank question.

I am fresh out of school. Suffer from severe test anxiety and I just passed my NCLEX-PN yesterday 5/10/2017. I studied for 10 days using UWorld, I answered 922 questions.
I passed my NCLEX-PN with the minimum amt of 85 questions, and my first time taking test. Not sure how different tests are but you can do it. I know alot if RN's who swear by UWorld, reviews are phenominal.
And I can tell you it worked for me.
Read all the rationales, even the ones you get correct.
I read every single one. I purchased a 30 day subscription.

    Good Luck!!

No. Apart from the review class, I had Kaplan and NCLEX Mastery. Now I plan to avail of the NCSBN Learning Ext as advised by someone whos been out of nursing school for a long time too and she passed.

Wow!! Congratulations!! Yes thats what Im planning to use as well. Though in the review class they discouraged us to use any Saunders material but I think it worked well for you. Im waiting for my books. I ordered Lippincot and LaCharity too. Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope I pass next time.

Congratulations!!! :-) yes some of my review classmates are using UWorld too some said it didnt work for them. I think it really depends upon the person. I know I have that knowledge I just have to be calm and access it. Test anxiety sucks I will do my nest to avoid it this time. Good luck on ur new endeavor as an LPN! Thank u for sharing your experience :-)

Those 3 books really worked well for me. Especially the La Charity, it helped me a lot with the prioritization and delegation. Read the rationales carefully, do questions and readings atleast 2hours per day. And always remember your goal, to be a Registered Nurse!

Yes. My nclex was mostly prioritization, delegation and assessment and multiple response questions. Yes I will. Thank you once again :-)

Kaplan was worth every penny and helped me pass with a great score. I got the hard sections, respiratory, cardiac and many math questions.
