failed nclex with only 75 questions :(

by kmg265

i am so upset and beside myself. i failed nclex with only 75 questions after hours of answering question in book and computer form, taking a review course and viewing tutorials in my weak areas. currently, im in my second month of orientation and have no idea what to do from here. how do i bring it up to my manager? what should i do differently this time? i have always done poorly in standardized tests, yet i am an A student. i dont understand why this is such a huge lapse in my test taking ability but i am in desperate need of advice and guidance at this point. any help would be so much appreciated.

I've been in your shoes. Keep your head up. Don't give up. Try suzanne's plan, you can find the instrustions on the top of this thread. A lot of people has already done it and it has a high passing rate, not to mentioned it's free. Good luck.

So sorry to hear you did not pass this time. Consider trying Suzanne's Plan. Definately do study as though you have not tested before. I would also encourage you to tell your manager as soon as possible. Alot of the new grads where I work have failed the first time and a few failed twice. Their managers were able to still work with them and even have helped them find courses regarding test taking stategies, etc. Maybe your facility will have something similar. Good luck.

I sympathize with you. I have been found eligible to sit the exam since March yet I haven't the courage to set a date. I am trying to source all the material I can before I do;I guess I am just delaying the inevitable.

I'm so sorry to hear about that! I just had my NCLEX RN exam on Oct 31 and I finished with 75 questions too, I haven't got my result yet but I'm scared now. Oh God, what should I do??

I was planning to do Suzannes' if I failed this time but I should give myself at least 6 months in order to do that program. I didn't have enough time to do the Suzannes' when I decided to write for this exam -I had only ~3 months and spent almost the whole time studying the Saunders'.
But you know what.........I did it, I did it, I did it!!!!!!
I did it with 75 questions in an hour and a half. I got the result in a little bit more than 1 day -Pacific time Zone!!!

Thanks eveyone for your support. I should say, this forum is really helpful for me in preparing for this exam -I can know the update, the tricks, and the skills in preparing and writing for this exam! Thank you so much for the wonderful website I will tell my colleagues who are intending to do the NCLEX in future -I will spread the news around.
Hey!!! I am 'NCLEX the Spreader' ..........
That's right, it's not easy to get those little two letters behind my name. An RN Ha! Ha!!

Sorry that you did not pass the exam.

You do need to let your manager know as soon as possible as you no longer hold Graduate Nurse status and can no longer perform any procedures that require at least that level as well as pass medications.
It will be up to your manager as well as the facility as to what you will be able to do; most of the time they will transfer you to the CNA status until you pass the exam.

Best of luck to you, you can get thru this exam.
