Failed NCLEX :c

  1. 0 Hello Nurses. I'm a registered nurse back in my country, graduated March 2010, got my license that same year.. Moved to the United States, worked as a server/waitress and finally decided to take the NCLEX just this April. (2013) A lot of people told me the test wasn't that hard. I underestimated the exam and didn't purchase or enroled in any review course. I basically studied by myself.. during the weekends because I'm working full time.

    So I took the test, computer stopped at question 75, I got so confident because I've read here that getting only 75 questions usually means you pass so I did the trick only to find out I failed.. And what can I say? I only have myself to blame.. Being 3 years out of school, I should've known this would happen. Now I feel so devastated. I know, I made a mistake and now I have decided to give my 2nd try my best shot, I will quit my job to focus on this and I'll maybe try either Kaplan or Hurst review. I'm planning to take it again maybe by July.

    Please help me :c What can you suggest for someone like me who's been out of school for a while? Thanks in advance! I'm sure I'll be a frequent poster here, I really need a support group like all nurses.

    Do you live in Hershey?! Because then we can study together. I am pretty sure, I failed my test today, too. I had 75 questions, and I have the feeling ONLY SATA and medication and prioritization questions ....
    I studied a lot with books (Saunders, kaplan, Hurst, LA charity) La Charity is a must-have book!

    U graduated 2010 that is still fresh, i graduated from philippines more than a decade ago. There are free or inexpensive nclex apps for ipad so u can still study while on the go (kaplan, lippincott, davis, etc). NCSBN review is also very affordable.

    Hello. I'm from the Philippines too.. Wow you did a great job! Yes, I'm thinking of trying Saunders app for iphone, I think it's about $30 but if it's worth it then i'm okay with that. I have free apps too but they're only limited to 100 questions or below. Thank you!

    @lloi: Hi Kabayan! I only used textbooks from my nursing school and La Charity PDA. Maybe that's why I failed. I didn't study enough.. But on my next try this July or August, I'm planning to use Saunders, Kaplan, Hurst & Lacharity PDA (you should get the Lacharity book, it's really good).. We can do this! I'm from the DMV area

    @melaniedale28f
    I'll be taking the exam on July too. Good luck! We need to focus more and study really hard this time!

    Hello fellow Filipinos!!! I graduated 2yrs ago also in the Philippines and I passed the boards also that year so i am an RN there. I moved here to the states on 2011 also, tried applying for the CA BON, unfortunately wasn't approved because that year CA BON changed their policies. So anyway, i applied for nevada state, got my att last jan and took the test this april.

    I wasn't able to pass because same as you, i also work fullltime but i took Kaplan. And for me it wasn't effective. I suggest that if you feel like you need refreshing, take a course that's comprehensive and focuses on content and questions and rationale. Kaplan wasn't able to help me with that

    Im going to try to take the exam in June. Has anyone tried to register again in pearson?

    We can do this. We should just focus on this 100% and it will all be worth it
