Failed Nclex

by GoBlue

Ok, so I failed the nclex for the first time today. I am numb, confused and crushed all at the same time.

I studied for 1 month prior, I did the kaplan q-bank (all of it with good scores)

I did review saunders, nsna, lippioncott, nclex made easy, the deglation book. I did about 3000 questions with review of all rationales.

My test was 1000% meds that I did not even recognize. How do I study for that??????

Any help from anyone would be great.

I did not take the kaplan course, the qbank was a friends.

I am at a total loss on how I could study better for next time.

How many weeks should I study before.

Should I take a review course??

Thanks again

GoBlue, sorry to hear this upsetting news. i know how you feel. but don't give up. think about what can help you to pass the next time around. assess yourself (knowledge, ability to apply critical thinking, ets). after my first try i knew what my weakneses are and what nursing areas i need to improve. basically it's not my knolewdge, it is my critical thinking preassured by test's anxiety.
i wish you good luck.

I am so sorry...I don't have any definite ideas about the re-take but wanted to let you know I'll keep positive thoughts coming your way.

Sorry to hear you failed, give yourself a bit of a break and then start studying again. Also when you get your letter it should tell you areas you need to look at which should help you decide on how to study.

Hi GoBlue, I share your sentiments...Gee, when I failed,I was numbed and felt loss...I also did everything possible to review...but mine was a longer preparation....6 months to be exact of intensive review...so I dont know really if studying shorter or longer is better. But we have to try again whatever it takes. So here I am reapplying for the second time. Good Luck on your next endeavor.

I know exactly how you feel about failing that exam. I took it on Friday and I was so sure that I had passed. I have so many delegating and priority questions, I guess that is why I was so confident. I had two math questions and the first one I know I bombed but I know that second one was right. I had 3 select all that apply and one exhibit question. I think I am the first person to get one of those. I guess I have to just hit the books again and start all over. I am truly feeling the pain.

GoBlue, sorry too about the non-passing of the nclex. give yourself some time to relax and reflect. then get ready for your next plan of attack. work on the areas you feel you are weak at--meds, etc.
i am scheduled to take my test in about 2 months and have been studying saunders, which i think is quite comprehensive. i'd also study areas which i feel i was weak in---meds, peds, maternitiy, physiological adaptation (?). kaplan qbank and qtrainers were also helpful--at the very least, their rationales help to understand reasoning. i've been told their format is most similiar to nclex.
don't give up!! yes, we can do it!!
