Well I graduated in December 2004 and I have had the hardest time with the NCLEX. I'm a mother of three who are 2,3, and 4 now this month. I went through school pregnant and could have dropped out like most people but kept on fighting and made it through. I did great in school to my suprise and for some reason I cannot pass the NCLEX-PN. It's making me doubt my ability and making me feel like I'm dumb when I'm around family and friends. It's very embarrising to have to tell them each time that I FAILED. Right after I graduated I scheduled to take my test...I was so prepared and then the day before I took my test I found out my oldest daughter who was two at the time was deaf. I was devistated but GOD helped me through that obsticle but now that my family is dealing with that issue what is stopping me from passing. I am truely scared and does anyone have any advice to give me please. I'm almost desperate to know what I should do. I don't want to give up on nursing but it seems like I have no other choice. I'm sorry to leave such a long message but any advice would be greatly appreciated. I thank you for listening and all of your time

You have accomplished a lot despite having several setbacks on the way. Congratulations for passing! I know there are several exam prep books that you can buy, I suggest you do that and study whenever you get a chance.
Don't give up, if it is your dream to become a nurse, just keep trying and eventually you will be successful. I know it is hard to visualize, but try to see yourself in your scrubs and going to work, what things you may be doing when you get there. Keep that dream, and keep trying. Try to study as hard as you can the next time you take the exam! Keep your chin up, if it is your dream, it will come true if you work hard for it. Good luck

I am sorry. You can do this. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to study right now with three under five years. I have five children but there ages are more spread out. You can do this.

I used so many different materials to prepare from Mosby's CAT, Saunders, MedsPub (required by my school), to review for nurses and a few others. I did approx. 6000 test questions and tested 1 month and 1 day from graduation. Please don't give up, if you can mother three little ones, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING.

As a father of two trying to work and go to school, I can empathize too. I'm sorry to hear about your 2 year old, we were very concerned about my son for the same reason but he seems to be more receptive to audial cues now.

Do you know if there are particular questions or sections that you are having the most trouble with? I've typically found that writing or typing out the questions and answers work well as your entire body is in on the learning process.

Let me know if I can help, I'd hate to see someone who put so much work into things let them go, it's possible you'll regret that for a very long time, or even worse - blame your dear children
