Sorry to hear that you've failed for the 2nd time. You truly need to wait for the Candidate Performance Report to arrive before you start blindly studying for the exam again because you very easily could be focusing on the wrong areas. The CPR will tell you how close you were to passing the exam and in what area(s) you need to work on. The edition of Saunders that you're using may not be the current version that focuses on the same content that the NCLEX is focusing on right now. I used Saunders 6th Edition and the NCLEX 4000 program for much of my prep work. I think the Saunders book also came with a computer testing program.

What was good about the computer programs is that they can be set up to test you using topics that are similar to the NCLEX. The subject within the question will vary, but the "kind" of question will be the same.

You also have to figure out some method of answering questions in a systematic and logical way. Not to mention making sure that you read the questions and answers slowly enough that you don't misread the question and therefore guarantee yourself a wrong answer.

The NCLEX isn't easy. In fact, it's downright difficult, but passing it isn't rocket science stuff. Since you have passed nursing school, you likely have all the background information you'll need to pass the exam. You just have to figure out why you're not doing well. The areas where you're having trouble will, of course, be on the CPR.

Until the CPR arrives, take some time off from studying and do anything but study for the NCLEX. You won't know what you need to concentrate on anyway. Once it arrives, concentrate on those nursing areas where you're having trouble and review the areas where you're doing fine.

Best of luck to you!

Hello. I passed on my second time and i can honestly say, you have to learn strategy of answering questions. Thats what helped me 2nd time around.

I had to work full-time during nursing school. I had no option with that... Occasionally I had to pull either some very late shifts or work graveyard. It wasn't easy. Answering NCLEX questions really has a lot to do with knowing what kind of problem the question is, pulling it apart to find out what it's really asking, and then answering the question appropriately using the ABC/Maslow/etc. skills they taught you in school.

Passing the NCLEX is possible. Don't let yourself get too down about not passing.

I believe it was the 6th edition, not the Q&A. I'll have to check when I get home to be sure exactly which version I used.

So your professors probably said dont bother reviewing your notes....I was told this and I think they were wrong. I studied my school notes , especially pharmacology. A lot of the things they emphasized on your nursing school tests are going to be asked again on the NCLEX. How can you think critically think about a topic you haven't learned about or dont remember? I passed the nclex in 75 questions by reviewing my school powerpoints, notes I had taken from the text, and then doing some practice questions in a nclex study guide.
