is exam easier if written in the US?

by nieruth

Suzzane, I've been hearing rumors that getting the NCLEX exam in US has an advantage because the exam in any state of the US is simpler than in the Philippines exam center.

Sorry, but just another rumor. The exam is going to be the same for you no matter where you write it as the questions are given to you based on how you have answered the previous ones. And the exam is a national exam, and is not state specific either.

For years we heard rumors that either CA or NY had easier exams, depended on the day of the week, but they are going to be the same. The exam when you are writing it, does not know where you are writing it at, nor the state that you are taking it for.

Sure, those that have gone to school in the US have an advantage, just because their training has been geared towards the exam.

..Actually i had heard that CA NClex was harder than the rest of the nations due to the fact that we in CA can get our lisce and begin work anywhere in the US , whereas an RN coming TO CA had to do more classes , etc...

I know its a myth now, having the NCLEX as a national test

but i do know that nurses from CA do not have to do other classes to work in other states but RN coming to CA do ?? i dont know why that is ??

That's not (just) about CA; it's about a few states, including CA, that require specific classes/instruction on specific topics for licensure. CA has that requirement, so students who go to nursing school in CA have that content/information built into their nursing school curriculum and have already met the requirement when they graduate. Nurses who are coming from other states, where that's not a requirement, have to complete the specific CEU/course to get licensed. FL and NY, I know, have similar requirements (for special, specific courses/information) and any nurse wanting to get licensed in those states, including nurses from CA, has to complete the CEU/courses to get licensed (the same as a nurse coming from somewhere else who wants to get licensed in CA).

(There may be other states, also, that have similar requirements, but NY, FL, and CA are the only ones I know of offhand.)

But this is an entirely separate issue that has nothing to do with the NCLEX. The NCLEX is the same level of difficulty wherever you take it. It's not "harder" in CA. The computer (on which you take the exam) doesn't know whether it's in CA, GA, or OH (or Makati or Singapore, for that matter!) The NCLEX is the NCLEX is the NCLEX, regardless ...

I would suggest looking at the BON for Texas and see what their requirements are for endorsing.

Closing this thread as getting off topic and question has been answered
