    Quick question:

For NG tube placement ---is ph test best or x-ray
also, if we do ph test and turns out acidic (stomach content).......do we still need to do x-ray to be 100% sure before feeding thru NG tube

I think x-ray is the best one to check for the NG tube placement. I mean if there is choice between those two i would choose x-ray (this is for once you put NG tube). But i don't think we do x-ray every time we feed. so we will do ph test and check the residul volume. correct me if i am wrong...

    Hi everyone!

I took my test this past Friday, 12/14 and I was just sooo scared! But once I started answering the questions, I kinda began to calm down. Haha! I was just thinking that that was another Q bank set of questions that I was answering. Mine stopped at 75 and it took me 3.5 hours! Well I took a break and really wanted to absolutely certain before I click next! I got lots of priority, like what would you do first and who would you see first, lots of teaching esp about meds, 2 math, prolly about 5 SATA. My last Q was a priority one. I prolly had about 3-4 hypothyroidism questions!! Haha! I felt that I was able to analyze and rationalize but I'm still not 100% sure. =( This anticipation is killing me!!! I checked my BON website and my name is not up there yet. DID I FAIL??? =( I can view my Quick Results now but I don't wanna pay the $7.95! Haha. But if my name did not appear on the BON website NOW, does that mean I was not successful??? Oh gawd I am sooo freakin' outttt!!!

well u got a point there.. but its more of priority, if u really want placement verification, i think an x-ray is needed, especially if you are dealing with the safety of the client.

although knowing that the PH of the aspirated residual volume comes from the GI, nothing beats an objective cue like an x-ray placement.

besides, what if you get wrong with determining if the PH is from the lungs, you'll be compromising the health care rendered to the client..

but both answers are correct. but if given a choice, i'd go with a xray first. if its not in the choices, then id go with the aspirated residual volume to know for placement. :spin:

Depends on BON and how often they update website. Just because it isn't on yet means you have failed. Give it a few more days/weeks

    Good luck

Personally, I think $7.95 is a small price to pay to lessen my freaking out time by several days at least. To each their own, but I know I plan to cough up the money to see my score quickly!
