confused with ATT and eligibility

Hello. I let my ATT expire once and all I had to de was pay the $200 again to Pearson Vue. Good luck. You do not need to reapply to your state board of nursing.

Hi jbjints, first of thank you for responding, may i ask you if you did register at pearsonvue, picked a date and just didnt show up. Or you paid got your Att but didnt register at all??? And when did it happen to you? Was it just recent? Coz i have scheduled a test but unfortunately couldnt make it that day however.that will be my expiration date as well. So is it better to just unschedule it and let it expire? If thats the case , i wonder if i have to re apply and pay both pearsonvue and bon????

Hello. Unschedule the test and let your ATT expire and you will have to pay the $200 to Pearson Vue only. The BON in your state has to approve you only once and that is it. This was very recent that I did this too. I called Pearson Vue and and asked them what I should do and they recommended that I unschedule instead of not showing up. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Please do not let that first sentence confuse you. Even if you were to leave the date as is and not show you would still have to pay Pearson Vue only and not the state BON but it would just take a little longer for you to receive your ATT.

Depends on the state. Yes if you don't show up and need to reschedule your exam you will forefit the original testing fee and be required to pay an additional $200 to schedule the exam.

Some states issue time limited ATT's and if you don't test before the expiration date you are required reqpply for eligibility for licensure by examination and repay licensing fees. Other states you just need to re-register with Pearson Vue and pay $200 to reschedule your exam within a 2 year period.

The rules vary between states...just like one state may permit you to retest in 90 days if you fail the NCLEX and the next may require 180 days before you can resit for the NCLEX if you fail.

Pearson Vue does charge to reschedule exams (unless specific circumstances such as manditory evacuations forcing closure of the testing site as was seen in Octomer with TS Sandy, power outages, computer breakdown etc.) and there are no refunds for the original $200 testing fee.

So bottom line, check the policies of your state board of nursing to get the most accurate response.

Thanks a lot for the advice thats exactly what i was thinking instead of doing "no show" so somebody can use the date too. The letter of eligibility is really confusing. Im from Ca i wanna know if we are from the same state?

Im from ca i think i kinda know what applies on my state however im a lil confuse with the eligibility letter, thanks for the info, but youve mention we need to apply for eligibility just one time does that mean it doesnt expire only the ATT does ?

I am in New York State and I see just beachy nurse's point and it make sense. In NYS the application to the state BON for approval is a one time deal but like beachy mentioned it depends on the state.

In NYS and in most states only the ATT expires (I think it is 90 days in most states). The eligibility to test in most states does not expire but like Beachy said you should check with your state. Hope this helps.

Okay, now i understand coz we are from different state and it varies. I guess i can try calling my state boards just to make it sure. thanks for your help!

i failed on my exam but my eligibility is for 2 yrs, i still have til 2013. does that mean i have to just register at pearsonvue? sorry im confused right now, just found out i failed. im from ca. thanks!

Eligibility is valid for 2 years but you can only take the test once within that 2 years.If you failed,you have to submit reapplication form and fee then once you're deem eligible,you may schedule your test again in Pearson vue.
