Computer Lag????

For those you have taken the NCLEX and had more than 75 questions, did you notice the computer lag or slow down with questions that you may have gotten wrong?

I saw on another post that when you get the question wrong, there is a slight lag when going to the next question.

Please tell me you didn't. Because if I notice some lag in between questions, I might just FREAK!!!!!!!

I have my test in 1 week. I have been very good about doing at least 100 questions daily and have improved my percentage of right questions. And I don't want to freak out about something and mess up the whole thing...

Regglyn - that may be one of those nasty rumors. You know how computers are - they can be slow, and they have to process information...that might lead to a lag, but I doubt it is because you have answered worng.

I have heard that theory too, but I don't buy it. I have heard "if you got one wrong, it lags as it looks for an easier question."

Wouldn't it then stand to reason that if you got one right it would have to search the question bank for a harder question? Either way, the computer has to adapt to your answers, and generate another question. So it would lag on all questions equally.

I think the lag is just the machine's quirks. I took NCLEX today, and got 75 questions. I didn't get a lag on any of them, and I KNOW for a fact I got at least one wrong (probably more, (I'm sure!) but I verified this particular question.)

Don't let a lagging machine stress you out. I suspect any percieved lags are just due to the individual computer and how slow or fast the electrical components are responding.

I didn't notice that. But I did start to freak out once the computer hit question 75 and did not shut off. So maybe I was less aware of that.
I wish you the best of luck on your exam!!!

Here's the thing:

This is an ugly rumor, for the reasons that Vektor describes, but even if it were not... the test is set up so that both passers and failers get ~ 50% of the questions right. So you're going to miss a whole bunch of questions anyway, in all likelihood. That shouldn't rattle you.

I didn't notice that. I was a little irate when the computer didn't stop at 75 questions (as I was exhausted and ready to go).

The only "lag" was when I finished the exam and the survey popped up. Otherwise, I was lag free.
