Care of post-amputee stump

I feel like I have been getting conflicting answers in regards to this topic between Kaplan and Hogan. One correct answer as to positioning the stump after surgery was to raise the affected leg on a pillow, another was to raise the foot of the bed saying that propping it on a pillow could cause some hip displacement and other issues. Any ideaes?? Anyone know the correct positioning technique for amputation in the 24 hours post surgery?
Thanks!
