Hey everyone,

I am a recent graduate in Canada - successful on the CRNE back in June. I have been working surgical, and more recently cardiology/telemetry and casually in long term care.

I have applied thru MN for licensure and to write my NCLEX - slightly nervous though as I have heard horror stories of some people writing this exam, haha. I am trying to maintain a positive mantra, however.

I bought the Mosby's Prep so far to study, but I am looking for any other advice from people who have wrote it and so forth.

Also, any other recent Canadian grads writing the NCLEX anytime soon!?

I have read that the NCLEX has an entirely different approach and emphasis from the Canadian test, so I would give myself enough time to do thorough study and prep. Many people find Saunders Comprehensive Review to be helpful, as well as the Linda LaCharity book on prioritization, and the Kaplan review book for test taking strategies. You might also consider a Kaplan or Hurst review course if you can afford it. Best wishes for success.

Thanks - I bought Saunders & Kaplan - I have been doing quite well on the practice tests actually. Hopefully that is a good sign!

Hi,

I am a Canadian RN that just passed the NCLEX on the 4th try. I will tell you it is not easy and nothing like the CRNE. I would do the CRNE over a million times then have to do the NCLEX once. I am not saying it to scare you I don't want you to be under prepared like I was the first time. I would give yourself at least 2 months of studying and do at least 5000 questions and pray every day (it actually works). I used Kaplan, La Charity (highly recommend), Exam Cram, Kaplan Med-book, NCLEX 4000 and multiple choice through the group that I was going through. I hope this helps you.

What part of Canada are you from? Where are you planning on moving?

I totally agree with NLNurse, i passed the crne this June, and started to prepare nclex at the end of july, there is so much difference between these two exams, i felt pretty confident before the crne, but the nclex, i totally had no idea and rescheduled my exam two times until my att was one week to expire. i suggest u to study the random sheet from this website, it is really helpful and do questions questions questions until u have a kind of feeling and control. I did at least 3000 questions.

and NLNurse i am from ontario. how about u? don't know where i am going, i think wherever job goes, i follow. :lol2::lol2:, how about u? are u in us or still here in canada? got a job yet? i am taking vocation for 2 months and then thinking about jobs?:D:D

I actually got a job offer out in Tacoma, WA - provided I pass my NCLEX. (So the pressure is so very on, lol)

I have done tonnes of questions - and practice tests from both Saunders/Kaplan - averaging about 70-85%. I really don't notice much of a difference in questions though like everyone else is saying. I did the Mosby's prep for CRNE and find the questions to be quite similar (minus all of the community stuff we were tested on in Canada).

I'm an Ontario graduate - have been working surgical, telemetry and LTC since I graduated in April.

I am from Newfoundland, I am a RN at the Janeway Children's Hospital in the ER right now. I am moving to Houston, Texas where my boyfriend is now. I am hoping to continue to be with children but we will see what the road brings. I am excited to move and I love the weather here. All the best to you on your exam.

La Charity is a great book, it gives you priority questions which I had a lot of on my exam. Also NCLEX 4000 gives you the different styles of NCLEX questions which I found good.

Hey Everyone, I am also from Canada. I graduated from University of British Columbia in 2006 and I am studying for my NCLEX now. I have heard it is very hard especially if you are a foreign graduate. I am taking a Kaplan review course now and hopefully that will be helpful. I am hoping to take this exam in Dec.

Good luck! I have sent in all my paperwork and am waiting for my ATT now. I'm not done studying yet though, I am hoping to write sometime in mid-November (this gives me a solid 1.5 months of studying everyday!). Hopefully things are still fresh in my mind from writing the CRNE in June...

Praying every night - because my job offer depends on me passing this exam!!!

Hello guys. my girlfriend is about to graduate this coming March and she is planning to take the CRNE exam and also the NCLEX exam together. We live in B.C, really close to Seattle so she is planning to write my NCLEX there.

My question is.. what are the requirements needed for it?

Can someone give me a link for it?

Or will someone kindly enough email me the things we need to do to be able to take the exam. I am also planning to do the same once I am done my program so we will appreciate your help

She needs to meet requirements as posted on their website. She is better waiting until she has gotten CRNE out of the way as NCLEX and CRNE as totally different.

Yes she has the exam for CRNE scheduled for already and we are wonderin if we could do NCLEX as soon as possible after she writes the exam. We just would like to know the steps as to how we could register for it and what forms or registration we need to do in order to have that ATT for the NCLEX
