calling all that failed Nclex...and maybe those that passed :)

by LisaG21

Its not often we ask for the advice on those that failed.... but this is different. I took my RN boards in june and passed with 86 questions, found out in 2 days (my state does not participate in early notification but I verified my license every 5 minutes till one popped up) anyway, my best friend took them on tuesday and there still isn't a license for her. Now granted it may just take a few more days, may they are backed up, and such but she recieved 265 questions (I know the # of questions doesn't mean anything justa little info lol) and she is sure she failed. She told me she was "dying" inside. Anyway the reason for the ever so long post is I don't know what to say to her. I don't want to say its ok, you can take it in a month, but I know if I were her I would feel the same way and it would be a big deal. So can you guys give me a word of advice? We are going out tonight to celebrate her getting her license, and me getting a job (I know I waited all summer to get one, I heard enough from my mom and dad about it lol) but it looks like its just for me. What can I say that won't belittle her feelings, but will encourage her? and now I feel like I'm flaunting mine. Thanks for your help.

hi lisa
i am sure ur friend is undergoing the same situations as my wife .i cant express how she's feeling .she finished it at 75 and hasnt received her results yet. there is a website www.state.nm.us/nursing where you can see the RN number if you have passed(thats what others say i am not sure).her freinds who took up the test along with her on aug 30 2005 got their numbers .two other friends who finished it at 75 along with her didnt see their name and RN number . STRANGE!!! right . all that we can hope is that keep our fingers crossed and wait for the offical results which may come in by 4 weeks normally . let me tell you that the two friends who got their result and the RN Number finished it 136 and 233 respectively .So your friend may definetley pass i am sure .Pray and thats the only way

Welp, she got her results in the mail, and she failed. She bursted into tears just telling me about it. I didn't know what to do so I just listened to her, and I gave her a bag of m&ms lol. She keeps saying its a minor set back and that she will get over it but I can tell she is so upset! I feel bad thinking it but I am so glad I passed. lol I kept telling her just becasue she failed her boards doesn't make her destined to be a bad nurse, that most nurses either have the good bedside manor or good test taking skills. Who knows...

I failed my boards and am retaking them tomorrow!!! I feel sick to my stomach. The thing that annoyed me the most was before I got my results everyone kept saying "Oh you passed." Then after I got my results and didn't pass everyone kept telling me I would pass the second time (because I had to much stress the first time, wedding, buying a house, etc.)
My DON and Administrator both told me that they both had to retake their state tests a second time. I felt a lot better after hearing my DON's story, (got married, failed nclex, lost her job, found out she was pregnant, had a miscarriage, took a review class and passed the second time, and this was all in a 3month time span!)
When I first found out all I wanted to do is cry, I couldn't hardly talk to anyone, the worst part was though when I got to work and had to tell them there, I felt like such a failure and thought I was stupid, but I have very supportive coworkers who have more faith in me than I have myself and I never felt as if they thought different of me because i failed.

You are not a failure for failing the NCLEX!! I will think good thoughts for you in hopes that you totally ace it tomorrow!! We had a coworker fail hers the 1st time around and none of us thought she was stupid or thought any less than her.

We all took the test and can admit...IT IS VERY HARD!! Before you take your test tomorrow. Close your eyes and take a deep breath and think "I can do this!". Then just take your time and thoroughly read each question and answer choice. Don't focus on the clock too much or it may drive ya nuts! Good luck!!

Just so that you are aware, that is the Board of Nuring website for New Mexico you posted. It only has licenses listed for those that have a license in New Mexico. Each state has their own listing..................and she never said where she was from.
