We started using the Saunder's NCLEX book almost at the beginning of our LPN program.

I also got the Prentice Hall NCLEX book which is very good.

I used Saunders for NCLEX-PN and passed with the minimal questions on my first try.

I read the short chapter on test taking strategies and then on one sheet of paper made a list of those strategies. Then I did the practice questions and read the rationales at the end of the chapters and used my test taking strategies list.

I marked the questions with an X or a check if I got them right or wrong and if I got the question wrong I wrote the number of the test taking strategy that would have helped to answer the question.

After doing enough questions I began to notice which test taking strategies I needed to improve on.

Once I completed all questions I then went back and had a clear idea of what I already knew well and what I needed to study more. I read the chapter content or studied more for the questions I got wrong.

Doing the practice questions first before reading any chapters helped me to understand what I already knew and did not to reread or restudy. I really didn't read so much of the book. Doing about 100 Q's a day was the key for me. It forced me to think through the information that I already had stored rather than reading the chapters while my mind aimlessly wandered. LOL.

Best of Luck

My program also recommended the Saunder's NCLEX-PN guide and the Hesi. IMO, Saunder's is the best.

Try SAUNDERS Q & A, also SAUNDERS COMPREHENSIVE.

Hello I was wondering if by chance the Saunders study guide you used was the green book? Since I just bought my Saunders yesterday at B.Nobel and wanted to know if I got the right one.

Thanks!

Yes. The Saunder's Comprehensive NCLEX-PN is green. It's excellent!

I have the Prentice Hall, it's very thorough, that's what my teachers recommend. It has like 1400 pages!

Many of my classmates really like Saunders too.:specs:
