ATI vs NCLEX

We did the ATI in school and it not that similiar to the NCLEX. I find ATI useful in practicing context (Not the best) but does not do well with Strategies. For NCLEX, you need to learn and master strategies. ATI does not do that.

I got a 84 on the ATI predictor, giving me a 99% chance of passing the nclex-RN... I failed it 2 times before finally passing it on the 3rd time. Ati is only for remembering content such as S/S of FVE, or CHF. If you memorize the ATI book its easy to pass. Nclex you should probably buy the Lipponcotts Alternative question book, Select all that apply questions for every section such as med surge peds and so on. To me Kaplan is the closets to Nclex but nclex is a little more complex. Slow down reading the questions and really ask yourself what the question is asking and you will be fine.

I guess it's a good thing that I'm taking the Kaplan course the week after graduation. I've been unhappy with ATI, and figured Kaplan would be money well spent.

Agreed. We just took the Kaplan class, and I really liked it. I like the Content Review Guide, and that I can really hone in on what I need to know, and that the class was more about strategies and tips, and you can keep notes on what content you need to cover on your own (since it's different for everyone). I've heard good things about Kaplan (and a few bad), so here's hoping it does the trick! I think as long as you follow the study plan, cover the content and do the Q Trainers when you're supposed to do so (though our instructor said to do 6 & 7 closer to when you have the exam scheduled), you'll be okay.
