ATI vs. Kaplan NCLEX Prep.

  1. 0 My Nursing program utilizes ATI in order to prepare us for the NCLEX. I have visited with KAPLAN representatives and it sounds like they're program is also very successful in helping people pass the NCLEX the first time around. What kind of experience has anyone had with either one of these programs? Which one if any would you recommend?

My school began using ATI 3 years ago and our NCLEX pass rate went from an 83% to 100% (3 years going so far). I have heard from graduates of my program that the ATI questions are actually harder then the NCLEX questions. =)

Haven't taken the NCLEX yet (I test on 01/28), but our school utilized ATI a lot. Our school has a 97% pass rate. I got 89% predicted grade for passing the NCLEX which is kind if scary. But I think ATI has helped me more than the Hurst review.

I have looked at he Kaplan book, and I've done the ATI virt. review. I feel like Kaplan really helps you break down the questions, and I feel like ATI helps with content. My biggest concern is the select all that apply questions, and I don't know of any particular source that really helps with them.

I took the NCLEX-RN today and got the "good pop-up" after about 77-80 questions. (After 75 questions, I stopped counting and the computer shut off like a bomb! I was so surprised!). I prepared with Kaplan and I highly recommend the program. Before I checked out Kaplan, I was skeptical about the program because I heard it does not teach content and I knew I needed some extra help in that area. However, I was pleased to find that Kaplan has online content videos and a nice electronic course book that boils everything down for you, but is detailed enough to feel safe. Kaplan is great for test taking strategies and I learned a lot from my Kaplan teacher at the live review. The questions on the Kaplan q bank questions and q trainers are definitely more complex than NCLEX questions.
