Re: ATI and Passing the NCLEX
I just realized how old this post is--Jan, I am pretty sure allthingsbright is now a practicing nurse---but to answer "graeze" questions. ATI is just another Nclex tool. My school insisted we buy and follow the ATI program through out school. ATI comes in 4 sections. Peds/OB/MS and Mental Health. They have disks-books and online tests. Some of the online test immediatly show you the correct answer and the rational, while the smaller content test never show you the correct answer or the rational---those are what I used to prepare for boards as I couldnt accidently memorize the answers so my test scores were pretty acurate to as how much I knew on the topics.
THere is an NClex predictor that ATI has it is 265 questions and covers all topics--I actually thought it was pretty simliar to the actual Nclex. Once complete the predictor has a huge multi page break down of your stregnths and weaknesses. It also can tell you "if you took Nclex today your percent of passing would be..."
Some schools are using this as a passing tool, for instance my school will not allow you to take boards if your ATI predictor is less than 60% you will need to take a refresher course and get your score to above 60 before they will send thier portion of the paper work to PearsonVue---
Some people are fans of ATI and others are not--I personally thought it was a good tool. But just that a tool. I also used Saunders/Davis/Mosby to prepare for boards.
Best of luck---I am a firm beliver that the anticipation of the Nclex exam is worse than the actual test itself---
