Anyone pass NCLEX-RN with NCSBN course?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey all,

I'm at a stretch for help at passing the NCLEX. I have been unsuccessful 3 times now. The first time I took the NCLEX I reviewed with kaplan online. The 2nd time I used saunder's Q&A book and the 3rd time I did kaplan classroom based course. This 4th time I have been preparing with the book NCLEX-RN Made Incredibly Easy Review book and the Q&A book. I havent heard much about that book helping at all, it was simply a reccommendation from a friend of my mother's who has been a nurse for a loooong time now. I think she doesn't realize that the NCLEX has changed but I dont feel like that book is helping me. I've already wasted 5weeks studying from it.

I heard about NCSBN and wanted to know if anyone has taken this course and what they thought of it. Is it worth it or not? Its very affordable for me but I just hope that it helps this time. I plan to apply for the course tommmorrow but before I do I wanted to check with people who have actually done this method.

Please respond.

How does that NCSBN website work? What are ok scores for the test and do they give you feed back on your test?

Thank you for your post. After two failed attempts, I am preparing for number 3 and have considered the Hurst review but its not in my area until 2008. I want to test in November. Suzanne's method seems overwhelming, Kaplan will only help if you get lucky enough to have Kaplan questions. I've been shopping here for an opinion on Hurst's and your's was the first. PLEASE tell me your likes and dislikes about it.

I want this to be my final attempt at nclex!

Thank you!

I recently failed Nclex Rn. I was really bummed about the whole situation. I thank god that I have an excellent support system. You sometimes wonder why god puts certain people in your life. Then the light begins to shine.

Now I can only speak for myself but I find that Kaplan was good as far as the decision tree. Overall I didn't find Kaplan all that useful. Remember this is only my decision. the course book is good but I still like Saunders.

I am doing the first step to Suzanne's plan. At this point what ever it takes. I seen that someone felt the plan was to long. In my own opinion you have do what you have to do.

God Bless each and everyone

THe learningext.com has a little over a 1000 questions.

It is a full review course. It is divided into topics like kaplan, like management of care... and it gives you web pages to read... that are very small, just a review, then at the end of the pages, you take a 20q quiz, when you are done with all the topics, they give you 850questions that you can do.

It mostly gives you the rationale of the right answer, and sometimes the wrong answer.

But I think it's good additional practice.

it's not user friendly at first, but then you get the hang of it.

oh yeah, after you are done with the quizes you have to review right away because it does not save your answers, just your score.

I hope it helps me pass boards!

to me the www.learningext.com is definitely worth the $49 for 3 weeks.

i have heard from several people that the questions resemble the actual nclex... (hopefully for me that is true)

i have it now, and to me it is worth every penny. it gives me content to read, and also quizzes that gives you the answer and rationale soon after you answer the question.

god willing i will pass my test. so i am done with kaplan, and now i am doing learning ext.

please god let me have the wisdom to pass my test:monkeydance:

I think this is more of a content review with end of the section review quizes to assess your knowledge of the material. If you are looking for lots of questions, try NCLEX 3500, Saunders Q&A, or Kaplan Qbank. Remember with Kaplan, the strategies can be used on some questions, but not all of them. Good luck! I just started the 8 week NCSBN online review>

I to just started the ncsbn website. I heard its really good and prepares you for the state exam.

Hello all,

I got an email from this website and realized that this discussion began with my original post. I was the one inquiring about the NCSBN course and I would just like to let all of you know IT WORKED FOR ME! I passed the 4th time around and have been working as a nurse ever since. I posted this a long time ago but I just wanted to give some encouragement to those of you who are struggling like I was. I would definitely recommend the NCSBN course for anyone! Wayy better than kaplan, suzann's plan, nursing made incredibly easy, all that other stuff! Its alot more interactive and they give you cool pneumonics to try to remember things. It has been a while since I took the course which was exactly a year ago now but the techniques that the course entailed was absolutely amazingly helpful to me. So please please please if you feel like your at a dead end and there's no other way to go, DON'T GIVE UP! There is a road at the end of everyone's dead end. Even if it takes you a few times to take the exam, it doesn't matter! Some of us are just not good test takers but that does not reflect on the type of nurse you will be. Before I took the NCSBN course, I was sure that nursing just was not for me anymore. I was tempted to just give up, go back to school and choose another career field but something in me told me no, keep going. Just try again and again until you get it because it will be worth the trouble in the end. Studying for the exam made me so depressed b/c I feared failing again for the 4th time but I cannot tell you how great it felt that November day when I found out that I passed the exam! Its so worth it and you all will see. If nothing else worked for you, take NCSBN! TRUST ME!

Good luck to you all and keep the determination. :yeah::nurse::typing:p

I used it for 5 weeks and passed. However, I also used Saunders 4th ed and NCLEX 4000.

Hi i just answered the Questions each topic but I didn't read it all. I concentrate more on Saunder's q & a, alternate item format and lacharity prioritization and I passed the first time but it stop at 242 though it really give me a hard time. NCSBN online review for me are harder type of question but I would still recommend saunders. Good luck everyone and God bless
