Answers please!! NCLEX TEXAS

Students NCLEX

Published

I graduated in 2009 from LVN program. Took the test 2 times and failed. I was very discouraged and never went back. Texas has a 4 year rule where I can not take it any more. Can I go take it in a different state without having a address there? any info would be great.

Check with the state but I have seen many post they went to different states to meet requirements and you do not physically have to go to the state to sit the exam. Just remember the exam questions come from the same pot

Thank you, I was planning to go to NM however I was reading on there website that it is a compact state so since I reside in Texas I will not be able to take there, due to they are both compact states. So if I meet the requirments would I be able to test in Texas?

Contact the Board of Nursing for the State you hope to receive a license from. Read the website for the information and if you have questions, CALL them. What we think you can and cannot do doesn't matter, as it is up to the BoN to determine what you actually must do and what you are or are not eligible for.

In a nutshell, you must meet whatever the education and application requirements are for that State's BoN; if you do (and pass the NCLEX) you will receive a license from that State. If you don't, you will not.

Good luck.

Correct. Residents of a compact state cannot apply for a license in another compact state unless they change their legal state of residence. For your plan to work you need to apply to a noncompact state and hope you still meet the TX BoN requirements for a license by endorsement. If approved by another noncompact state you can physically take the NCLEX in TX or any where else your heart desires. The results will be sent to the BoN you indicate when registering at Pearson Vue.
