Am i doing the right thing before taking my NCLEX?

Updated Aug 13, 2009 at 12:44 AM by Kevin Paras, BSN

Hey guys,

Im planning to take my NCLEX hopefully by next month and im done with my 3 months review at KAPLAN (quezon ave branch,Phil). Now, I'm back here in California and practicing my Princeton and Mosby review materials. I haven't started my Prioritization by LaCharity and my NCLEX-RN 250 new format questions (coz im planning to read it 2 weeks before my exam) I'm answering 100 questions per day. Am i doing the right thing to pass the exam?

Any advice for a good study plan? This is my first time to take NCLEX so I'm very nervous about it!

Another question here. Whenever i answer my Nclex review materials. I only got 50 to 60% scores. Do you think i have a big percentage to pass or fail?

Looking forward for your reply! God speed!

Hey you have to get that under control and just relax! You have time to focus and just review over content but most of all work on weak areas first then go to strong areas. Focus on one review and used questions from other reviews like what was said. You can do this just stay confident and take advantage of your time. You dont have to study all day long and all night. Apply your testing tips and you will do great. But remember you have to know content to answer questions! I think you are headed on the right track you just got slow down with so much material everyday. Its a process! But you can do it!

Well, I cannot tell you whether you are doing the right thing or not?
Ask yourself? Is my studying technique working? Am I comfortable the way I study? Am I learning? etc.

I highly recommend Saunders 4th ed Q&A, Saunders 3rd ed. comprehensive review ( If you have the latest ed., it way o.k.), La Charity book, and www.cdc.gov

good luck!!

yes, i agree. that's perhaps a LOT of materials. honestly, i have the saunders 4th edition cd, and prentice hall's... but i only use it when i want to study my weaknesses... or if i want to concentrate on a certain topic. i on the other hand, used Kaplan (paid the $499) along w/their course book, La Charity and Exam Cram, and also Carl Balita's book as reference and as my grab-and-go book. i believe you can get a lot of practice with these, but they don't really cover certain "topics" you wish to focus on. i am certain though, that it all helped me tremendously.

with that said, i found my August 8th NCLEX-RN to be fairly easy, although i could say none of it could compare to the real one. i passed it with 75 questions by the way.

Goodluck!

(PS. i'm not US-educated either. i am currently here in California but finished my BSN in the Philippines, and did the review here in the US)

takecare and Godbless

oh, i forgot to mention i've also used the NCLEX4000 cd, but like i said, i hardly used it. i only use it when i want to test my weak areas.

my main focus were only doing Kaplan, La Charity, and Exam Cram.
