Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

First I would like to give all praise and honor to Jesus Christ, because without him none of this would be possible!!! I graduated nursing school in 2009 with a BSN, I thought Nclex was going to be a breeze because I did so well in school. I took boards for the first time in Oct. of 2009 ended with 122 questions, the second time in March. 2010 ended in 180 and i ran out of time. (I studied so hard that time, I knew without a doubt that I passed)

But i got my results in the mail that i failed and i was devastated..... :crying2:. So at that point I gave up found a job, and just lived life... but seeing all those people i went to school with excelling in their career motivated me to study again. So after a year, I took the exam again in May. 2011 and again I ran out of time at 180 questions. I got my results again that I failed and it was the most horrible feeling ever. I have the most terrible test taking anxiety ever, and that was a major issue with me passing Nclex. So my Dr. prescribed me some anxiety meds, and I preformed relaxation techniques as well.

But most of all pray and my relationship with God was what I needed to get through this exam...

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

With motivation, faith, dedication to a good study schedule, Pray, and the help of my Mother who has encouraged me through it all ( I thank God for her!!) I geared up for what I told myself, it was going to be the last exam I take. So I scheduled my exam for Sept 29, 2011. But I had to reschedule because of an issue that came up. So I rescheduled to Oct. 4. at 8am... The sunday before the exam I went to church at 745am service, and the pastor called for prayer at the end of the service. I went up for prayer and the pastor prayed for God to give me a miracle... And God did just that!!!

I took my exam two days later, I went in to get signed in etc.. and when I finally got seated I prayed before I started the exam. I prayed that God would help me and most of all that he would give me relief (I was so exahusted from studying thus long, lol). So I got started and then after a hour and a half, the test shut off at 75 questions. My heart sanked because I was expecting way more questions....I walked out testing center almost in tears and unsure of how that test went. I got alot of priority, infections control, meds, plenty sata, peds, and ob questions.

I got home and I was so afraid to do the PVT, because everytime I did in the past I failed. So this time I decided to wait it out. So the next morning I checked the BON website and my name wasnt posted, I checked again in the afternoon...and there it was, my name and number posted. I jumped, screamed and cried tears for joy, I couldnt believe it!!!

I used saunders 4th ed, Davis Q&A , Frye 3300 bullets, Nclex 3500, lippincott alternate format questions, lacharity prioritization and delegation (a must have), and the infection control mnemonics that were posted on this site. (I wanted to give a big thank you to whoever posted those mnemonics, they were beyond helpful to me!!).

Lastly I wanted to say to those who are studying for Nclex that if I can do it so can you, and a word of advice to not wait to long to take it the next time if you fail. DON'T GIVE UP!!! Thank you allnurse.com for all the encouragement and prayers when I needed it the most. IM FINALLY A R.N!!!! :nurse:
