About seeing the credit card page... maybe it's different in California since we unfortunately do not have the quick results option How long after you took the NCLEX did you try the Pearson Vue trick?
yes i got quite a few of those, atleast three or four.. and i stuck to my same answer.. i should have changed it.. now that i think about it...i came home and looked up my answers.. and i was wrong.. and now i totally understand why the comp wanted me to answer those again.. when i was taking the test, i thought what ? is this ia trick.. why r they asking me the same thing?! .. but i came home and looked up my answers.. and i had choose the wrong answer.. and that is why it was giving me another chance

Yes I kept getting the same couple infection control questions and I too thought it was a trick of some kind.

While it's still fresh in your mind, write down the topics that kept coming up for you. It's been a few years since mine (OK, OK...I was in the very first class of electronic boards around here in 1994) but I have read and been told it focuses on what it perceives to be your weaknesses.

Like I said before, it's been a few years since I took boards, but many of the certification exams are going to the same concept of varying numbers of questions based upon your percieved level of competence...and I *have* taken 2 of them in recent years...

I found that getting programs that very closely mimicked the format of the exam I was taking, then just taking them exams over and over and over again...looking at what I missed, and more importantly, WHY the rationales said I missed it.

It may not be your knowledge base so much as your test-taking skills and thought processes.

God knows there are a myriad of programs that mimic the boards, and IMHO, Kaplan is worth the 600 bucks just for their q-bank.

Good luck. You'll make it, and you'll be a welcome member of our profession. God bless.

I don't know if this helps or not. I took Kaplan, and to be honest, their Q bank and question trainer tests are AWESOME! I learned so so SO very much from those.

When I was taking the tests, if I got a question wrong, I would write it on a list. I'd take like 20 or 30 question tests, look at ALL the answers and rationals (it IS important to know why you got something right as well as wrong) and keep track of the content I was not sure of, or that I did not feel comfortable with. Then I'd sit down and hit the books on those topics. That was very helpful. I'd say that Kaplan did help me pick apart questions as well. Not all of them worked with the decision tree, but those are more content type questions, where they are asking solid facts.

It was amazing how tricky some of the questions are. I think the course helped me make 100% sure I knew what the question was asking.

I passed with 75 questions..... HOWEVER, when I walked out of there I felt like "YUCK, I just failed"!!! I had meds I'd never hears of, and those I'd just search the question for clues. Obviously you are not going to remember ALL medications, but if you know your classifications and such, it is a big help.

Good Luck, study well, and stay positive! (as I am sure you already are doing!)

I found Kaplan to be very helpful. I thought the questions were pretty much identical.
