77-cubicle 7- SHOCKED AND SAD:(

Hi GUYS!!! I actually just signed in here but was looking around a week before I took my exam. I took my NCLEX last Tuesday and I am really, really scared of what the result could be.

I arrived my testing area 30 mins before the designated time but was allowed to take the exam15 mins before the time. I was feeling quite okay with the exam then when my computer didnt shut down at 75 I convinced myself that i'll be taking a long journey down to 265 questions..After 75 I started to relax first and did some stretching to shrug off my anxiety... And so I continued with 76 question which I totally forgot and answered 77..after that 77th question it shut down and I was surprised. I wanted to hit the PC and tell the PC "hey, i'l prove myself to you. pls don't close down yet" I WAS REALLY SHOCKED and NOW I AM SO AFRAID OF WHATEVER IS THE RESULT WOULD BE I was really hoping that I would have done all the 265 question than stop in 77 questions within 1 hour. Though I was pretty confident with all my other answer except for some things about my meds that I am totally clueless...

I only had 1 SATA, no calculations.. lots of prioritization, delagations, meds and labs. And one more thing does the last question needed to be right to be able to pass?

how does the 95% thing works.. if I answer 95% of the question of the 77 wrong then I fail and if I answer 95% of it right I pass? I AM SO CONFUSED AND VERY SCARED.

I AM REALLY, REALLY CONFUSED and I AM REALLY AFRAID OF WHAT THE RESULT WOULD BE.

Welcome to the site

Your last question does not have to be right for you to pass the exam. In fact this exam is very hard to predict on whether you pass or fail. Nothing you can do now but wait for your results. Good luck

Slow down and take a deep breath. Not sure of where you are getting this 95% number, have seen others mention it and it has no bearing on anything.

Each and every person that writes the exam will get 50% correct and 50% incorrect. Determining if one passes or not will be by the level of the majority of the correct answers. This is it in the simplest of forms. There is nothing to do with getting 95% correct on this exam, it is a CAT exam and focuses only on the level of the questions that you get correct.

Best of luck to you.

Suzanne4 is exactly right!!! I've seen plenty of advice out there that muddies the water on the NCLEX. The CAT exam format uses the test plan to give the test taker harder or easier questions in order to probe their knowledge level. The 95% has to do with the statistical certainty the computer has that a tester has passed the exam or failed the exam. In other words, when the computer shuts down it is either 95% certain that you have passed, or 95% certain you have failed. Again this is still simplified a fair amount compared to the complexity actually used. EVERY person that takes the NCLEX will get about 50% of the questions WRONG. This is in the design. It is how the test can determine each testers basic level of knowledge.

Fear not, some people get 75 questions, some get 265, most get some number in between. I am an excellent test taker, never worried about anything and always know if I passed or not, except for this dang test. I felt completely dumbfounded following this test.

Bottomline, just try not to stress until you know how you did.

I hope this helps set you at ease a little. Taking this test is a very stressful event after all the effort of nursing school.

You can't send a pm until you have 15 posts to your name. You also need to complete the first tip before she will accept you onto her program and also meet her other requirements

Sorry, but you need to have 15 legitimate posts before you can send a pm to me.

You actually need to complete the first tip that is posted above in a sticky before you should contact me as well.

I took my exam today and got 76 questions. I know that I answered the last question incorrectly. I am also wondering if that means I failed??

I also got the last question wrong but I definately passed. It is possible to get the last one wrong and pass. It also does not matter how many SATA questions you do or don't get. It does not matter if you get zero med math questions. The NCLEX is very much a random test.

:hngon:HANG IN THERE!!!!!
