PDAs and Smart Phones

by Misty1

I'm seriously considering getting a PDA or Smart Phone .... Blackberry 8330. Just wondering if anyone is using either and are they worth the money?

We got and ipod touch for our nursing program. They are awesome they have the drug information, medical journals, nursing dx support loaded on it through nursing central and it updates to current info everytime you connect to the internet. I believe its 49.99 a year , but that information is still available to you if you don't renew so your essentially getting 4 large current books that cost about 40 to 50 or more a peice for the price of one a year. I haven't started my clinicals but so far im impressed

Thumbs up Re: PDAs and Smart Phones
I had a PDA for a long time, used it all the time. Lost it. If I go back to med-surg I would definitely be getting another one. Recommend it highly. There are alot of programs on the internet you can download. I had Davis' drug book, very fast to look up everything about a medication. I would research downloadable programs first because depending on the pda there are different softwares on the pda and that makes a difference which programs are compatible.

Consider what you want with it. 8320 vs 30. 20 has built in Wifi and 30 has the GPS. Also, a NEW Curve is out but I don't remember the number.

If at all possible I'd suggest getting the new Curve.

I have the 8320 because the built in Wifi just rocks when everyone loses signal and I can jump on the work network or any open network automatically.
