PDAs and Nursing?

You can always look through the many PDA threads. The iPod touch may be your ticket if you have access to the net & iTunes. If you are like me however, you will be craving for a hit of iPhone after a few days.

I bought a PALM while I was in nursing school - spent a lot of money on it too. I liked having my drug book and calendar on it because I could keep my school assignments separate from my personal stuff but it was really bulky. After having an iphone, I definitely preferred using the phone in clinicals instead. It was thinner and lighter. I haven't used the ipod touch but I'm sure they're similar in size.

PDA's are going the way of the cathode ray television. Smartphones are basically the answer. Everyone I know uses an iPhone, physicians included.

The iPod touch is a bit thinner than the iPhone (perhaps not the case with the new generation touch.) and you may have a less difficult time parting from the touch in the event of an accident.

Blackberry offers basic apps and the jury is still out on the Palm Pre. Personally, I would like to see Palm succeed; however, I am die hard iPhone. The power, memory, capability, and ease of use simply kills all the current competition.

In addition, I think there must be a cure to cancer, a world peace, and a do all the shopping app that you can download.

I have to respectfully disagree - I think the Blackberry is the way to go. lol

I have the Verizon Curve and its the bomb! Does everything except walk the dog.

No worries, as I stated Blakcberry does have apps. Perhaps I should have stated I like the Blackberry, and RIM makes a solid product; however, the power and utility of the iPhone is very hard to match. Even going away from the rather formidable array of medical apps, the games and other apps offered are excellent and dare I say unmatched. Games such as hero of Sparta have graphics, sound, and game play that is as good as the stand alone PSP. The ability to download music, movies, apps, and podcasts straight from iTunes via a smoking fast network is also a great experience. If other service providers such as Verizon ever make a deal with apple, the iPhone could totally dominate.

However, I must admit, the newest wonder device could be just around the corner. It is sad that to think; if people could put in as much effort into medical technology development, a worldwide space program, and world wide cross cultural cooperation, we could achieve a relative state of global peace with amazing medical technology, while people build habitat on Mars. (Perhaps even extrasolar travel)

Yes, Windows mobile devices support apps. I still suggest you spend time looking through the many PDA threads where these devices have been discussed in detail, many times over.

I really suggest the iPhone. There are HUNDREDS of medical apps on there! And alot of them are under $10! There are also plenty of NCLEX study guides there too.
