Before you go farther with this, make sure your school will allow you to have a cell phone (even with the phone part turned off) on the floor with you in clinicals. Many schools/clinical sites won't allow you to have a cell phone with you on the floor due to HIPPA concerns.

Just don't want you to buy all sorts of software and then not be able to use it.

Moved to the mobile computing forum

There are several threads already on the Blackberry but as mentioned make sure it is acceptable by the nursing school before you buy it

I have a BlackBerry Storm that I use and I really like it. If you can't have a phone, an iTouch would be a nice option (I have one of those, too). Both have great apps that can be purchased for them. I have several Skyscape apps for both my devices.

I have the blackberry storm. It looks great on a bigger screen. I have on it nursing constellation from skyscape, which is a bundle of nursing software. You purchase the software on skyscape.com and they give you a registration key so that you can download it to your blackberry device. The individual softwares start out at $40 ( I got the bundle for $200 which included davis drugguide/tabers/disease software/davis lab tests/and a calculator that helps you with drug calculations and other stuff.) overall I think the bundle is worth the price. Since the storm is a phone, we are not allowed to have it on the floor but I keep it in my bookbag and look up stuff as needed. So just check with your school prior to purchase. I love the convenience of it vs lugging around multiple books.

Hi,

Have used a PDA for over 10 years and love them! All mine have been Palms until the last few months. I bought a Blackberry Bold and am addicted to BB's now. I use the Skyscape programs-they are quite simply the best. The Constellation is made up of several books including Tabers, drug guide, lab tests andsome awsome free resources.

Good luck with your choice.
