Which iphone apps will help in Nursing School?

Hello all-

I am starting nursing school in the Fall, and got my iphone just for the medical applications available. I am wondering if anyone can give me advice on which apps will help me, and what they will help me with. Also, if you know ones that you tried and did not like, that may help save me some money. Thank you in advance.

basically skyscape is your friend. It's a free platform from which you can download almost any nursing reference on to it. I currently have my nursing drug book, my IV drug book, Labs and diagnostics book, and a medical spanish book on it. if you go to skyscape.com you can see all which is avail. for the iPhone. I strongly recommend checking to see if your text book has a companion on there.. best of luck!

I agree with RnIn2011. I have the Davis Drug Guide and my IV drug book downloaded on my PDA in school. It was great is some classes but not in others. I had one instructor that only trusted the book. Even though I could get the information faster using my PDA, she made everyone use the paper book during clinicals. But, I had other instructors that said we could use whatever resource was available. You will just have to check with your instructors. Good Luck, Have Fun!

Thank you for asking this! I have to decide between an iPhone and a Blackberry by next month.

I purchased the Nursing Central from Unbound Medicine. It has the Davis's Drug Guide, Davis's Lab & Diagnostics, Diseases and Disorders, MEDLINE Journals and Taber's, Medical Dictionary. I also downloaded some free stuff too.

By far the best application's I've found are the Tabers dictionary, Lexi-Drugs, AJI annotate (a PDF viewer that lets you search inside all of your PDF files) and Neph Calc.

I've gotten an app called "Jaundice"--you enter the baby's age in hours and their bilirubin results, and it shows you the AAP's guidelines for whether to bili lights or not. Great app for NICU/MCH!! I also found one w/breastfeeding management and info, including medications, etc.

The CDC has an RSS feed, if you're interested in Infectious Diseases.

If I worked nights, I'd have as many flashlight apps as they made!
