I think that is excellent advice.

I can see why how useful this device will be for some, though.

As for me, I want all the bells and whistles that they are going to come out with, so I will wait some.

I admit I am interested in the IPad, however I will wait until price goes down and features go up.

I already own a kindle and love it. I hate that the 3g network for the IPAD is an add on cost. The kindle has that for free.

The iPad is pretty, but I already have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone. What I'd rather have is a Kindle. Books seem to spawn in my bag, and a Kindle would drastically cut down on the weight I'm carrying around!

Although the ultimate machine would have everything that everyone wants. The reality, the best tool is the one that does the job.

For me I will never use a camera. I have one on a netbook but I never use it. it's easier to just talk on the cell phone.

Flash. Well for the most part unless I have to. I'm to inpatient to wait for flash pages to load. They don't work well with lowest common denominator computers.

What I will use it for is teaching. I have a lot of youtube and other video's on my Ipod Touch and I use it all the time. Being able to just turn it over will be perfect for education. Having the IWorks suite will be very helpfull also.

As to the percieved problems of reading off of LCD screen vs E-Ink. Well personally I don't see a difference. I can't read the kindle at night in bed without turning the light on.

My first involvment with tablet PC was back in the DOS days, and I've used PDA's and even an Apple Newton. I see this as a perfect tool for MY use. For others, maybe not.

Will I get one. Well lets see what Uncle Sam lets me keep this year.

If you already have an iPhone you can download the Kindle software for free and buy books off of Amazon just like the Kendle. I have read a few books on my iPhone and it was very comfortable and I could do it in the dark with my wife in bed :-) I believe they have some free books as well if you just want to check it out.

Yup that is one reason I didn't get a Kindle. Can't read in bed in the dark, but I've read whole books on my touch. I download from project Gutenberg using an e-book program called stanza. I've now experimenting with getting them into the kindle for PC and Ipod.

I just read the new Stephen King book using the ipod and it was definitly doable.

I didn't either! Just downloaded Kindle onto my iPhone!

Can you imagine though, how great it would be to read your novel or magazine on an iPad? The depth, the clarity and the resolution, and the gorgeous color on a bigger screen? Wow! I am ready to get rid of my bookshelves, and decorate my home minimally. Why have all those books and take up all of that space with shelving when I can just read novels that do not have to use up my device's memory? This is the future! I have six hugh book cases of books. What if I didn't have to use that space for books anymore?

I think one of the big down sides to the IPAD will be just as it is with other apple devices such as the IPOD. They make you send in your device when you need a new battery. I believe the cost is around $40.00 . That was one of the main reasons I had bought the first generation kindle over the second generation. At least I can change out the battery myself. I also think the Ipad should have extra memory cards. I love that feature. I keep all my audio books on a separate memory card. I do wish the kindle had a backlit screen for reading at night. That would have been great.

With all the copyright issues and Apple's tendancy to have exclusive rights, I do not see memory cards on Apple products. This also explains the non-replaceable battery issues with Apple devices. I do think Apple pushed out the iPad to compete with the Kindle, a potentially successful move.

However, the iPad could have much more appeal with flash support. Apple's reluctance to compromise on some issues may hurt them eventually. I can forgive the camera because who really wants double chin lap videos. However, give us OS X and Flash.

With that, I am still a fan boy and it is likely my dumb a** will be first in line when the iPad hits the market.
